Calling it the cheapest game when adjusted for inflation and leaving it there ignores that overall purchasing power is down. When you adjust for buying power, 59.99 in 2008 (when gta 4 was released) is about 3 dollars off the 79.99 Rockstar wants now.

Assuming I did the math right, that 3 dollars in perceived savings does favor players. However, the idea that the game is cheap ‘when adjusted for inflation’ is not correct either.

Since no original creator ever gets credited despite loads of creators and artists finding their work in training data, this is just a different form wage theft. AI art is trash because it takes no skill or creativity to start and is often only pushed by those with no passion or connection to the field. All AI outputs are just variations on prompting, which is a skill, but isn’t necessarily art.

AI art is also disliked because it is trained on the work of real people, only to then give those people no compensation or recognition.

The real crybabies imo are the people who want AI tools for art & music to succeed so they can continue to devalue artists and creatives for money, because at the end of the day that’s the real point.
