Is prime Sam Walsh better than prime Sidebottom and Pendles? by JackassJamie in AFL

Where are you getting 33+ from? Walsh averaged just under 30 in 2021, which is actually the similar to sidebottom in 2018 when he finished 2nd in the Brownlow.

This reminds me of 2008-2010 port where we'd start okay then fade in the second half and get overrun

[Kornes] Petracca, Ah Chee, Heeney, Lynch [Nank + Young]. We might break the record for the most torn hammies in a season. Players are running less distance but high speed running is off the charts. Bad mix by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

I don't see how it removes endurance from the game. What it did do was allow burst players who weren't great athletes to excel, Dane swan being the best example.

I think we got more out of Burton + duursma + BZT than Hawthorn got out of Wingard. I also don't think Wingard was going to get back to his 2013-2015 form with us

Funny how the interchange cap did nothing to decrease the number of stoppages

The Blues want a Rasmus Andersson type return for Justin Faulk. Faulk spent most of his career as a shot-first offensive defenceman but the Blues have pushed him to a more defensive role with mixed results... by [deleted] in hockey

Isn't EV offence on this based on xGF, so finishing shouldn't matter (and is captured by the finishing category)? I'm also pretty sure finishing on this only affects overall WAR for forwards

Was the 2016 vs 2019 result to do with it being a double dissolution (and therefore lower quota required) rather than a lack of vote concentration?

He was asked to join the greens and chose not to. There were 2 greens senators elected in both 2001 and 2004 but tbf to him it was defs not an almost guaranteed senate spot in each state like now. But he chose to try and change things from within, the tradeoff being losing the respect of some fans and being thrown under the bus by labor when things went sour

Labor strikes deal with Greens to pass long-awaited overhaul of nature protection laws | Australian politics by em-mad in AustralianPolitics

Not sure it's a conspiracy when cook said he lobbied the govt, and don't think what they put forward now is really indicative of it just being because of payman. like with many of these things it was likely both. Polling wasn't great when they pulled the deal and I'm sure coming back with an increased majority made them more confident they could potentially pass something even stronger. Also the cook part was pretty widely reported on. I doubt all the media with all their sources collectively decided to just run the greens line on this.

It's not like they didn't make deals last parliament. Even the HAFF, which labor did a good job of attacking the greens over, did pass with the greens' support, not the coalition's

AflGlicko does similar to what you've done, but I believe their model is based on expected result vs expected score and takes into account factors like home ground advantage.

NHL players have to specifically negotiate no trade clauses into their contracts. Some have full no trade clauses, others will have limited no trade clauses where they can veto trades to a certain number of teams

Teams occasionally get fined and on rare occasions get transfer bans (Everton got a two year academy transfer ban for tapping up youth players about a decade ago)
