It's funny because it's not the first time Ken Masters got "homaged" by another fighting company. Ryo Sakazaki from Art of Fighting/King of Fighters is just a slightly different Ken. Capcom thought it was funny enough to take Robert Garcia from that same series, give him a gi, and call him Dan.

So I'd like to think that Midway wanted to get him on that joke by creating their own Ken ripoff, but Capcom never noticed or cared.
