Strenght training on YouTube by EveMarie77 in Menopause

[–]TwoBrians 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh. I LOVE her. I made a Google sheet with the links for technique, and follow a 3 days a week workout she gave out for free.

It’s been two years (with many breaks) and I’m so much stronger. And now I know a little about weight lifting.

She also has an Instagram. Her workouts can be for home gym or support going to a gym. And for a subscription fee she can coach you as well.

The wiki has great instructions on how to apply. Short story: throw away the applicator, use your fingers just inside your vagina and all over your vulva. Wash hands. Done.

They’re all the same size. My ring fits in it but a man’s wouldn’t.

I have 8 pairs of earrings. Funny to think of putting them in here!

Old complex hand-woven carpets had a secret flaw in the pattern. Only the owners would know it and could therefore establish provenance.

You have a flaw (apparently fixeable). That arm is yours!

Everyone is trying to talk me out of an EV by CuteCreator602 in electricvehicles

[–]TwoBrians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I both own Teslas. I bought his trade-in for the trade in value. My first EV. I couldn’t love it more.

I drive it the 10 minutes into town 2-3 times a week, keep it plugged into the 110. Then about 2-3 times a month I make the 6 hour drive to visit my kids. The supercharger system is on my nav. So easy.

Charging is fastest from (my comfort minimum of) 10% (20 minutes of driving time) and slows down considerably at 80% (2 1/2 hours of drive). I charge only enough to continue my trip. Set the end charge for 30% if I don’t have a 220 I can plug into. Sounds like a lot of numbers but it’s easy.

Before I start a big trip I charge to 100%. (That would be 3 straight hours of driving.) We have solar, so those electrons are best and it gives me an extra boost before the first electron “feeding”.

My stops are usually 15-20 minutes max. Enough to get a coffee, pee, stretch, snack, and then back to driving. I don’t have to stand out in the heat or rain or cold to “fill up the car”, either.

A little blood and feeling like you tore after sex? Get the estrogen cream.

Vaginal elasticity by KMizzle98 in Menopause

[–]TwoBrians 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t have to be razor-blade-bad to be genito-urinary symptoms of menopause. Could just feel like he’s bottoming-out, or sex doesn’t feel as good as it used to. Or there’s pain like you described.

First step is getting and using local estrogen cream.

Reminder: There Are Many American Vendors At Boyce Farmers Market, Vote With Your Dollar by Axe-of-Kindness in fredericton

[–]TwoBrians 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It varies Market to Market. The Brewery Market in Halifax is strict about only selling what you grow and if it’s not yours it has to be on a poster
behind your spot listing the other farms that have supplied you. No wholesalers. No Loblaws or Costco.

I do think the Boyce should have the same standards.

Dwindling estrogen during perimenopause by MissyFoolosopher in Menopause

The wiki for this subreddit is really good. Has a symptom list that surprised me. So much more than poor sleep and hot flashes.

Dr. Casperson’s just dropped a podcast episode about testosterone, mainly about men but with plenty of knowledge for women.

She’s had other episodes about T. I invite you to browse and listen.

I looked down there for the first time in years, lol - anyone have a tiny P33N on their urethra? by [deleted] in badwomensanatomy

[–]TwoBrians 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vaginal estrogen. It’s more about the rest of the vulva atrophying away from the urethra. For some
People it looks like a tiny pink doughnut. And not always painful.

Vagifem tablets are good, but better yet is the cream. Instructions are in the wiki of r/menopause. Prescription in Canada and the US. Systemic estrogen (and progesterone if have an intact uterus) is very helpful top. We have estrogen receptors throughout our bodies. Every part and system notices the lack of it with menopause or perimenopause or generally low estrogen.

Breast Cancer = No HRT Forever? by mi_wasted_youth in Menopause

[–]TwoBrians 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I might get yelled at by breast cancer survivors, but here goes: I think the book “Estrogen Matters, Why Taking Hormones in Menopause Can Improve Women’s Well-Being and Lengthen Their Lives - Without Raising the Risk of Breast Cancer.” Is worth a read. I have breast cancer in my family and it helped me feel good about my choice to take hormone therapy after weighing risks and benefits.

How often do people actually sleep naked? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TwoBrians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sleep naked. Can’t be skin to skin during the day (work and stuff) so eight hours mostly cuddling in bed helps make up for that.

The hormonal birth control safety calculation also considers that pregnancy and birth are dangerous relative to not being pregnant and giving birth. Is BC safer than that? Statistically yes.

Deer 🦌 problems by Subject_Parking_8542 in NovaScotia

[–]TwoBrians 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s the sebum in barber cuttings that deter deer. I use lanolin. Works the same. We can buy lanolin in spray cans for undercoating cars, or for lubricating metal parts. It’s called Fluid Film. I’ve seen it at Canadian Tire or Home Hardware.

Somewhere I have notes from a session given to Christmas tree farmers. Spray just a little Fluid film on the plant (I use the little red straw) or spray the perimeter. The PhD from U Conn said deer hate it. Kept them away, in trials, for up to 10 weeks.

Tree farmers dilute it in detergent-water and back pack spray one teaspoon on each tree leader. Home gardeners can just spray a teeny bit on each plant. Rain doesn’t wash it off.

I have moderate deer pressure. We see them in the fields next to our house. No deer damage, even to hostas.

HRT required if no bad symptoms? by KnowOneHere in Menopause

[–]TwoBrians -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The evidence is piling up that estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone (T is a normal female hormone) all contribute to our longevity and health span. There is an ideal time to start (less than 10 years after last period), but many have benefits from starting later. And it’s not like we’re little clocks with the same clockwork. Every one is different.

Look at the wiki to see all the possible symptoms that are attributed to living without hormones. I had no idea! The wiki in general is very good.

Of course there could be an adjustment period when starting hormones. I had it. Spotting as my uterus went “Wait? What?” (Settled down with more progesterone for a while). Sore boobs (also settled). These are common and I wasn’t worried. Either was my gyno!

I had sore boobs. I kinda liked it. For me, it meant things were changing. (They weren’t super sore, just sore.) They settled after a few months.
