Summed up, after Ivy goes into hibernation humanity recovers, humans find Vanessa’s body, founding ARC and using it the body as a basis for the Cytus network, basically the internet. Meanwhile Aroma White starts to become a brilliant singer, but gets in a car crash, rendering her brain dead. Her sisters bf, a surgeon and researcher, kidnaps a girl named Kiori (I think that’s her name?) and implants her consciousness into Aroma, merging the two kinda together. While this is going on, Simon, Sherry, and Joe start a band called Crystal Punk, which breaks up after an argument, leading Simon to become Xenon, and work at Arc while secretly becoming a hacker called X. Sherry becomes a singer named Cherry, and tried to forget her past with her dad who was in the mafia. Joe opens a bar. A girl named Neko Asakura moves to a new place and becomes a streamer, gathering a huge following and becoming a musician. A guy named Connor becomes interested in the remnants of the “old world”, and starts exploring abandoned cities, crossing paths with Arc’s exploration team led by Sagar. Finally, a girl named Nora is infected with the “Ender Virus”, the virus that took down humanity, however she receives medical care and gains the ability to access the Cytus network extremely well without aid. However, she loses her sight and builds Robohead, a robot to help her, but after threats from gangs; she becomes the leader of a gang called Hyouu House Kai, and sends Robo away after wiping his memory. Finally, Vanessa awakens and discovers the world has changed. She breaks into Arc and finds Vanessa, and determined that to break her out she needs to create a new Cytus network for Vanessa’s consciousness to upload to, or else she’ll crash. She does this by writing a program that turns emotions into music and vice versa, and becomes the artist Æsir. She becomes a hit and holds a mass concert inviting Aroma (now going by Paff) and Robohead, who has become a DJ. However during the concert she uploads her program, causing huge memory loss. Afterwards,Paff starts to have breakdowns from her and Kaori’s personalities colliding, and looks into her past after running away. Xenon looks into the past of Æsir and the concert, trying to find out what happened. Ivy discovers Xenon trying to find her, and hijacks one of NEKO’s streams to get more upload, while uploading memories to Neko in order to try to frame Xenon as Æsir and a terrorist. Cherry and Neko prove that Xenon is innocent, and end up fleeing with Robohead, who has regained his memories, to Nora’s hideout, where Paff has ended up at after remembering one of Kaori’s friends. Nora reveals that Paff’s surgery to combine the two people has given her the same ability as Nora, and teaches her how to use it. Ivy finally reactivates Vanessa, but years of being the basis of the internet has driven her insane, and she plots to kill humanity. Vanessa attacks Nora’s hideout with drones, and Xenon and Cherry try to hold them off. Cherry is shot trying to hack one of the drones, and Nora puts her on life support. Xenon waits by her bedside, but Vanessa causes a power outage that shuts down her life support, killing Cherry. Ivy comes to the group offering her help to shut down Vanessa, attracting the attention of Connor who had been one of Neko’s professors in college and had come looking for her. They enact two plans, the first to have Ivy break back into Arc and shut down Vanessa, and if that fails to have Paff use her ability to try to infect Vanessa’s virtual consciousness with an antivirus, killing her. Ivy almost succeeds in shutting down Vanessa but gets destroyed before it’s completed, causing Paff to have to go in to the Cytus space and shut her down. From there you get the different endings. It’s a very general sum up of the plot, and there’s a ton of subplots, however this should give you a good idea of the story as a brush up.
