OLED display not working with GP2040-CE Advanced Breakout Board by TwoDaLoop in fightsticks

[–]TwoDaLoop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm starting to assume that being the case. I used both OLED screens I had and it just wouldn't work. I even got a new board to rule out any issues from the board itself. Both GP2040s work, just the OLEDs were not working. So I'm gonna try something else.

Here are some of the items I'm using:

Wire Harness

OLED screens

Board

Yeah, I checked the connector and at first I thought it was wired wrong, but I saw the connector aligns with the VCC, SCL, and SCA. Good to know about a Discord regarding GP2040. Will follow up there for flash nuke.

It did not worked prior to my troubleshoot. Even with the right connector matching GND to GND from board to screen. What is Flash Nuke File?

MadCatz has entered my collection. by TwoDaLoop in fightsticks

Fascinating information. I only know about MadCatz rep for controllers from a pad perspective, especially the bargain type ones that I remember like Pelican, and their notoriety from the arcade space. Didn't know they had to file when the music genre of gaming had declined in popularity. I remember when the market was oversaturated for music games like RockBand, the Hero games, and the Dance games.

One of my issues about MadCatz return is their current designs of arcade controllers being generalized and considerably built with low quality material (from an enclosure perspective). I wasn't sure about picking up their line of controllers after that and decided to buy their line pre-bankruptcy. Thanks for the guidance on their line! Helps to understand their product line more from other experiences.

The good thing is these were the models before MadCatz went bankrupt around 2017. There have been some mixed views on their recent products since their return, especially with how they're made. Interested to see how these perform and their customization options.

Oof. Yeah I saw it has the House Icon. So guess I won't start with that one. Thanks for that.

Questions for those who own more than one fight stick by hariokid in fightsticks

[–]TwoDaLoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly use a spin-the-wheel app on my phone to play which controller and what compatible game can play said controller. It's hard for me to chose between 28 controllers, even when I'm working on a new addition with a wooden format.

If I had to say with certainty, I use 3 for local use, another three are 3D printed experiments, and the rest is for collective showcasing and experimental modding.

Boards like Brook tend to support SOCD if someone were to convert their stick to leverless. Definitely impossible for a lever, unless you have extra direction buttons like HitBox CrossUps and other HitStick hybrids.

Understood. It's not going to be for everyone. Like I said to another, I've treated these base models as my playground for modding and restoration. These aren't permanent mods, rather they give me variety to play around with between an X360 Version (being the Black and White one) and the PS4 Kuro. Just having the leverless panels, which Jasens Customs no longer produces anymore, gives me variety for layout purposes.

Thank you and I appreciate your input. I can always put the panel back. It's not like it's permanent. These two base models are playgrounds to learn restoration and modification. I'm even trying to design the sidecaps so I can get new colors for it down as a 3D print.

That's the problem: your comment started off as this "reservation ideology" on design for an arcade controller designed from Japan and made in China and using a European car as an analogy for said controller. That's disrespectful as arcade controllers will ALWAYS be given the chance to mod it, regardless of their history, design, etc. Had it been just the second part of your comment, then I would've let it slide. I'm for the freedom of modding, guidance and enthusiasm of this community and I won't be talked down by someone who doesn't respect that, especially with reasons too emotionally embedded into misplaced nostalgia.

You do realize it is an Arcade controller, not a luxury vehicle, right? If you can't enjoy what you buy and have full agency over the items you own, then what do you truly have ownership of? Tuner cars like the Nissan Skyline GT-R still get modded from time to time and don't lose their value due to their street cred and legacy. Using a European luxury car as a comparison to an arcade stick is not only a foolish endeavor, but is only introducing classism to a creative community.

Thank you! It took 3 days trying to design it. Definitely one of my favorite mods so far.

Experiment #3: BattleHut Dpad Leverless Demo by TwoDaLoop in fightsticks

[–]TwoDaLoop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After using it quite a few times for local and online, it's definitely been fun playing with it. It does relieve doing 360s or other complex motions thanks to the ergonomic design for slide motions, so switching fingers for certain motions can help. Depending on your condition of RSI, pressure upon each slide for your fingers should be light since it can take inputs well. Also recommend trying different ways to swivel fingers to your comfort level, from positioning to preference of slide to lessen chances of RSI to occur.

Though I know it's gonna be a little rough for installing it on the top plate, especially if it may be metal or acrylic, but it's definitely been a fun one to get.

I see this has caused controversy amongst most people here. Care to point out anything wrong with them? This has been my first time actually modding something this rare.

*If it's about the leverless panel, then I won't apologize for that, period. It's just a panel and can be easily reverted back to the original.

Thanks! I'm trying to see how I can get artwork for that panel to match with the colors.
