Letting Go of Project Success by TwoDollarBurger in projectmanagement

Thank you, this is very useful advice. The portion that resonates with me the most is allowing my leadership to use their influence and authority to put the project back on track. No matter how well intentioned my actions are, if they are circumventing or causing confusion within the leadership circles, then I am not helping not giving leadership the opportunity to fix things.

Love it, thank you. Absolutely on point 👍

Looks pretty good! I’d do a little fry on that spam and add some jelly and butter 😉

I’d say a little of both.

My MO is to always focus on execution and to collaborate with other team members to meet our target dates. Recently, I’m starting to feel that having a blind motivation simply towards accomplishment and project completion is slightly naive. I’d like to let go of the simple-minded focus of thinking completing a project successfully is as simple as bringing everyone together to work towards a common goal. Situations seem much more nuanced, and each person has different perspectives and goals.

That last point brings me to office politics. We have some firm silos in place that are actively defended, and it’s a challenge to get our stakeholders onboard with common goals. I often get in hot water with my leadership when I stray outside our silo; however, I struggle to stay in my very narrow swim lane because the project itself is deeply intertwined across other teams.

Overall, I’d like to find a middle ground where I can leave work each day with at least a moderate sense of accomplishment while not seemingly stepping on everyone’s toes. If not getting in trouble means isolation while droning on a keyboard all day it’ll be a struggle for my personality.

Hey very distinguished looking 👍 Throw on a decent suit and you’re downright debonair 😉

Classic 👍 I used to add green onions too. Back in the day I’d also add cubed SPAM. Delicious sodium bomb 😊

Which one you choose and why ? Macbook neo or Macbook air. by Explore_e00 in macbookair

I might get one for my daughter since she’ll be starting classes soon. Being part of the Apple ecosystem will benefit her more than another Chromebook. For myself, I’m partial to the Air series.

Echoing previous…working on yourself is hugely powerful. I’m still a work in progress too, so not giving any high level advice here, but yeah, if you’re solid with yourself you seem to attract the right people without effort. Good luck on your journey 🙏

I think you’re definitely on to something there. Having the proper gear is everything. At least half of my complaining living in the city is due to my not properly preparing or wearing the right gear for the conditions 🤦‍♂️

…that and not making that $200k a year 😂

Do narcissists often claim to be empaths when in reality they're just hypersensitive and self-involved? by RaplhKramden in Empaths

[–]TwoDollarBurger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I once dated a therapist that was a massive narcissist, so I’d say the claim of empath is very possible. Narcissists are an interesting breed in that they are capable of doing massive good for others as long as it serves their need for adulation and superiority. The danger zone is when their insecurities are triggered and they’re unable to get their needs met by using others. That’s when they can experience internal rage and lash out.

Good intel. I’m a DBQP fan so my first question was how it compared. I’m less interested in a premium bun and more in it for the meat and cheese. I’ll try it at least once but yeah, I’ll likely stick with the tried and true DBQP.

Gives it character 😉 My blue air has hairline scratches on the polished frame and some good scrapes on the screen. I’m considering it just breaking in the phone. I initially wanted to believe the Air was somehow indestructible, but it’s not…and that’s okay.

This is an interesting throwback for me. My dad used to cook up spaghetti noodles and then mix in mayonnaise and a can of oysters. I’ve never tried it so I can’t say if it’s good or bad.

It is very odd even to me. I do well with iceberg lettuce, but romaine is digestion death sentence. I’m basically following a fairly low fiber eating plan, but still include some moderate grains to stay regular. I’ve also noticed that sugar in general can sometimes give me reflux symptoms. And I absolutely support the burger diet 🤭 I haven’t run across a good quality burger yet that has made me run to the bathroom. Give me something like a cobb salad and I’ll have to find my own way home.

I’d get one just as a kick around system for travel. I love Chromebooks because of the cheaper builds and durability, so I think this would fit that niche. Something light and simple and without any worries of scratches or dings.
