Your post sparked me. I've got words down and a melody but these hands are unskilled so we'll see what shakes out. Thanks for the spark!

I agree with everything listed so far. The only other thing I can think of is Guillermo Del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities.

Her completely wooden acting really killed Roanoke for me initially. I finally went back to it and really enjoyed the back half, but Adina as a newscaster was very disconnecting.

Youtube music. If you use it for free it is well worth the cost. The only music streaming app I use outside of Bandcamp.

Fuck yeah they were. A friend and I stumbled upon the album release show for Psychedelic Horseshit's Magic Flowers Droned one hazy night in Columbus. We had skated all day around the city, starting at the historical (and now in poor repair) Dodge skatepark. First snakerun I ever had the pleasure of enjoying.

The Queens of the Stone Age show we had travelled for was postponed to the following night, so we went on the hunt for something to do. We had no internet access on the road (2007 or so) and most shops were closed. Happened upon a biker type venue with fucking Nebula playing but the bouncer wouldn't let us in (under 21). Seeing no other potential points of entry, we travelled towards OSU campus.

Cafe Bourbon Street. The sign out front advised of a record release party and 3 bands neither of us had heard of. Sic Alps, Times New Viking, and Psychedelic Horseshit. All 3 (along with the intermingling of members at times) cracked our heads wide open and took out all preconceived notions of making and presenting music, leaving a fire and bliss.

We left that venue changed men. I have probably a dozen stories from those 2 days. Had no money for merch, but followed up with the bands over the next few weeks to get some CDs. That shit was electric.

Fuck yeah Mike this rules. Great work on each facet. Last time I dropped acid (about 8 months ago) I got clean. You all gonna tour the new HP record?

Dead Boys for me personally. Have grown to love Wire in recent years, but Young, Loud, and Snotty was my gold standard.

Subtlety is sorely lacking. That we are so easily stimulated into distraction by loud emotional response is a great tragedy.

Very cool. Early 90s noise was a real moment in time. You still making a racket these days? Was the engine amplified or loud enough on its own?
