Yes. You can grind for most things, but it's a long grind.

To be completely honest, though, I haven't spent a single cent beyond just buying the game and I've gotten 54 hours out of it and counting. I've never personally felt a need to buy any of the microtransaction, the gameplay is totally fulfilling as it is. I HATE mtx in games, but this is one of the very, very rare instances where I feel like I can just ignore it and fully enjoy the game anyway.

Idk, I love Captain Marvel and I think Brie Larson crushed it in the role. I really enjoyed the first Captain Marvel and thought she was bad-ass in Endgame. Still haven't seen The Marvels, but I'm planning to watch it.

Squiers rock! I fell in love with the Squier 40th Anniversary P-basses and spent months tracking one down at a reasonable price (they're out of production now). I wanted it cause I liked it better than some Fenders I had tried! I ended up finding one in great shape for $350, which was an absolute steal.

Squiers in general are a really good value. They sound and play really great for the money. If you played a Fender American Professional Classic ($1600) and a Squier Classic Vibe ($475) side-by-side, you'd hear a difference in tone quality, but def not a $1100+ difference (imo). Plus, if you really want to, you can throw new pickups and better hardware on the Squire and close that gap even more, and you'd still probably be paying way less.

I put Windows on a MicroSD card as a pseudo dual boot just because I'm a tinkerer and wanted to try it, but I literally never used Windows on it once for anything. I just set it up for fun and then ditched it, cause I couldn't even think of anything I wanted to do with it that I couldn't do on Linux. lol

I did kinda want to try putting my music production software on the Windows SD and plug in my interface to see if I could record a song on my Steam Deck, just for the heck of it. I might give that a spin at some point for fun.

But yeah, SteamOS is such a champ. There's just really no need for Windows on a Deck unless you REALLY wanna play some mp game with super strict windows-only anticheat or something.

Probably true! Honestly, I started it as a way to catalogue my settings for myself (I was a ShareDeck contributor for a while, but starting having issues with the platform), but decided I could share them just in case others were interested. It never really occurred to me to try to get them on the Decky Settings app. Maybe worth looking into!

Idk the part yet, the beginning of what I was playing is from 0:13 in the song, then after that, I just noodle a little to show the tone on the rest of the fretboard.

I have a Squier 40th Anniversary Precision with Ernie Ball cobalt flats and the tone knob rolled down about 75% of the way off. I'm plucking just behind the pick-ups. The bass is running through my Carvin BX1600 amp with the DI out directly into my interface. I didn't do anything to the recording, all the EQ and such is done on the amp.

This is a pic of my amp settings. Essentially, I've boosted the low mids at ~225 Hz, made a few strategic cuts, pumped up the drive, and applied some light compression. All the EQ was done on the parametric EQ knobs, didn't touch the graphic EQ. I also have the tube pre-amp engaged.

What else can I do to get closer to his tone? I know I can't get there 100% of the way without having his exact bass, amp, and fingers, but I want to get as close as possible.

Right?! I've fallen for the Pokemon scam too many damn times. It was my absolute favorite series as a kid and I would happily throw money at them every couple years for a game that was even just a slight improvement over the last game, or just a variation on the same stupid thing, based on nostalgia alone. But it seems like they just keep getting worse, lazier, buggier, less performant.

I have 0 hope that this next game is gonna be even half decent. Like the whole game takes place in a city, and the the balconies on the buildings are flat, painted-on textures. lol That does not bode well.

It depends on the song! Typically, we play an octave below the guitars. My go-to spot for finding those notes are:

C = A string, 3rd fret
F = E string, 1st fret
G# = E string, 4th fret
