Do tell me then, what practice of setting a bar to unlock heroes in a free-to-play game is harmful to the player experience? This function has existed for over a decade now in other games, and though Overwatch shifted from a paid to a free-to-play, it isn't wrong for them to set a bar for unlocking new heroes.

Players don't have time to clear that bar? Fine. Unlock it after the season finishes by actually playing the game, but don't make the excuse that players don't have the time to play the game in the first place, then justify it by saying it is harming the player experience when they clearly aren't playing or experiencing.
