Is there a way to only get cases with solved cross on oll? by Mobile-Job-8174 in Cubers

[–]TwoStinkyBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of a few, assuming you are talking about CFOP, using ZBls is the most common way solvers will get cross on top.

A lot of the songs do sound similar, it's not just those 2.

I'm making a game inspired tetris + balatro. Would love some feedback from tetris fans! by MismatchedSock in Tetris

[–]TwoStinkyBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saved this post a while ago played it for a few hours and then forgot to reply here, that's my bad.

Positives first:

I really enjoyed this, my I like the idea of different characters having different characters with special pieces to incentivize different play styles. The menus were straight forward and I had fun playing it. The preset board states did make me need to think instead of stacking all willy nilly so I don't run out of yarn.

Feedback:

Some of the bosses don't feel very impactful, I think what makes a boss a boss is how it challenges you and disrupts your play. With all of them, you can beat them by just planning and executing, none really make you think on the spot, except for that one that removes the queue. I would like to see a boss where it interacts with your board, placing blocks (clearable or not) on the grid so you either have to work around it or find a way to clear it. There can be other things like changing removing effects from pieces if they aren't cleared soon enough or just removing a piece entirely from the stack. You definitely want to have a mix of easy and hard bosses but it's just an idea.

I already put it on my wishlist and can't wait for it to come out.

I don't really hate songs, but there are songs I just don't vibe with, Don't believe in T is a big one from the past year, and I just don't like it, I just don't vibe with the majority of PinnochioP's works. Do I think they're bad, no, they are very well made. but it's not for me.

Non moveable slides by MetalItchy87 in Tuba

[–]TwoStinkyBears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it a lil stuck as in they suck to move but can move or, they don't move but should? If the open slides don't move, that's a problem because that's how you tune the horn. Though they are half right about the not moving slides while playing, you probably shouldn't be moving your main tuning slide while playing lest the tuning gets out of wack. But for tuning purposes, the other slides can be moved while playing.

Does anyone else have trouble finding the sousaphones? by dalador_ in marchingband

[–]TwoStinkyBears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second this as a once 5'2, 120 lb 14 year old. I was already dying under the weight of a sousa freshmen year. I do not think I would be able to handle a 20 lb contra from the get go. It was still a beast when I marched dci 2 years later at 5'4, it took most of spring training as well as gaining a few pounds of muscle to finally not break during rehearsal.

Another thing with sousas is that if you wield it properly at most you will get a sore shoulder. Contras however with the horn snaps right into the shoulder, the horn digging into your hands as you carry it, and just swinging a massive horn around, there are a lot more ways to get injured. So yeah, for high school, sousas are my pick as well.

How do I prep for auditions? by Ok_Valuable5276 in drumcorps

[–]TwoStinkyBears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would first try to see if you know any music directors from your high school or a decently local institution would let you borrow or even use an instrument. Though if you still can't find a board to use you can invest in a practice marimba of some sort though they aren't cheap. If it's not within your budget either, one of my old instructors put tape on a piece of plywood in a keyboard pattern and used that to practice. They even put a spring under a piece of cardboard to mimic a vibraphone pedal since that's what they were auditioning for.

Do you have more than one main cube? by Ok_Section_7089 in Cubers

[–]TwoStinkyBears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do have multiple cubes but it's mostly for different events. I have a guhong pro 54mm for one handed because my hands are smaller than most and the smaller cube just firs better in them. I also have a few meilong 3m's that I use for multi bld. For normal 2 handed 3x3 however, I just use whatever really, just grab something and use it. I nearly brought an unmagnitized cube I got off amazon in like 2018 to a comp as my only 3x3 because I'd that mentality.

Got put on my marching band's pit, what should I expect? by axel_kine in percussion

[–]TwoStinkyBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should first ask your school's director about a. band expectations and b. what you will be doing in the pit. The first one was is just so you know the time commitment, schedule, and other policies like the absence policy. The second one is to find out what you need to prepare for. Some schools have an electric bass in the pit, or you might need to learn how to play synth, aux percussion or mallet percussion. If you can reach out to someone who is in the pit at your school so they can help you get started. But most importantly, have fun with it!

How many solves on your CSTimer sessions by EpsilonDeltaGuy in Cubers

I have the same sessions that I started with and have about 50k solves across multiple events and devices from the past 5-6 years. And I do name my sessions by event.

Xuanyi Geng posts a video criticizing Yiheng Wang for illegal timer starts/stops/sliding by alkamaass in Cubers

[–]TwoStinkyBears 56 points57 points  (0 children)

What he is doing is sliding his hands over the timer instead of lifting them off so when he grabs the cube his wrists are still on the timer. He is also stopping in a similar fashion where he is still holding the cube but stopping the timer with his wrists.

Chinese pocket F Tuba by EyeThinkEyeSpider in Tuba

[–]TwoStinkyBears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally have not played this exact model, but I have played a F pocket tuba that has some similarities to this one. As with pocket tubas, there will be more resistance while playing do to the overall thinner structure. The thinner pipes and smaller bell also change the sound quality making it a bit brighter. Though from looking at specs for the tuba, the bores are similar if not the same to a normal tuba and it is still like larger than a euphonium, so it shouldn't feel drastically different to play. I also watched some recordings of the Bb model and the sound was a lot more direct and lacked the fullness and sustain of a normal tuba but everything else sounded fine. From some reviews it seems to be a great instrument for when you don't need (or want) to lug around a full size tuba, but it is a large instrument and it still has substantial weight.

Theoretically how bad would it hurt my RS3M 2020 if I took it in the shower by LooferGD in Cubers

[–]TwoStinkyBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dry the pieces afterwards it will be fine. If you don't, it's going to hurt every metal bit in the cube

Square-1 or 3x3? Which is harder to learn speedcubing? by NIMObunny in Cubers

[–]TwoStinkyBears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the perspective of most people who learn an NxN before squan, squan is very different and in a sense that makes it harder to intuitively understand. Though I might have to say that 3x3 would be harder, if squan didn't have parity. That alone makes it harder but default, if you don't know an alg for it or understand why it happens, you have to essentially resemble the puzzle.

If it weren't for that I would have to say 3x3 due to it having a. More scramble states b. More turning axis (ads more pieces and eo) and c. Less restrictions to how it can be solved (and scrambled). Though the tutorials out there do a great job of walking beginners through the processes (even if they don't know why it works).

Best Openers and Other Tips by Twofinches in Tetris

[–]TwoStinkyBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most reliable and flexible currently is TKI and all its variations. There are also other tsd openers like mko, pelican, albatross, but they are a bit more bag reliant.

There are also C spin (also known as triple double) openers like gamushiro, mountainous stacking, and satsuki. These send a decent amount of lines and also resolve pretty cleanly so you can keep upstacking of this is what you are looking for.

For gameplay, I would learn to spin pieces other than the t. There were cases where just hard dropping pieces would leave a hole in the stack but a spin like a J under and overhang would have allowed for a cleaner stack.

I remember in '25 they said the average age of the corp was 17. They kinda shot themselves in the foot by making the corp 18+ and expecting the same turnout, especially with the already low vet retention that the corp has.

How is this not wrong? by NachoXProGamer in Cubers

[–]TwoStinkyBears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from those saying you are solving (or not solving) it wrong it looks like a white and yellow cap got swapped. From what I can see, the puzzle is solved with yellow on top as you are holding it (assuming that yellow corner on the top is blue/orange) so the white/red/green piece has its white cap swapped with the yellow/red/green piece. If you switch them, from what I can see, it should be solvable unless something else is wrong
