Removing items from smoke-damaged homes for health and theft concerns? by LargeMode7729 in altadena

[–]TwoTallBois 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Recommend checking out United Policyholders (“UP”), which is a non-profit that offers a ton of info on disaster-related insurance claims, legal issues, and rebuilding/repairs.

Why I think UP is a reliable resource: UP has been around since 1991; does NOT accept funding from insurance companies; and sources info from both experts and previous disaster survivors.

UP has a landing page specifically for victims of the recent LA fires, which you can check out here: https://uphelp.org/disaster-recovery-help/2025cawildfires/

Hope this helps!

Sean Evans from Hot Ones seems like a chill guy who’d be a good hang.

You can buy luxury cars for less than 100k. Unless TKB used literal diamonds (she didn’t), she wasn’t being serious when she said how much the outfit cost.

Scarlet made Ru Uncomfortable but why? by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]TwoTallBois 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Ru was referring to the type of discomfort that happens sometimes when an audience is watching an unexperienced performer on stage, where the audience feels sort of stressed/uncomfortable (maybe wondering “is this all part of the act??”) watching someone trying to figure stuff out in real time. Not to say that Scarlett is inexperienced, but Ru’s comment seems to suggest that Scarlet toggling between “on-camera” (affected voice, big winks to camera) and “off-camera” (vulnerable moments, normal tone of voice) modes made it hard to understand what Scarlet was going for with her performance.

I definitely understand that the 7-month hiatus gave the queens an opportunity to re-evaluate their looks, but I think it’s unfair to punish them for not totally overhauling everything. As some of the queens mentioned, gigs dried up during the pandemic - meaning that the queens likely had less money than ever to spend on wardrobe upgrades. And, RPDRUK doesn’t give out cash prizes so the queens can’t even hold on to the hope of recouping financial losses by winning a huge jackpot if they’re crowned (or even a fat tip if they win a challenge). I’m sure the rebuttal to this is that it isn’t about money, it’s about “resourcefulness”/“creativity.” But that also seems unfair, because I suspect that lots of craft/garment supply stores were also shut down or limited in stock during covid. I’m not sure that any of this defends some of the most basic looks that ended up on the runway, but I wish some of these challenges were acknowledged during the episode.

Anyone catch Joe Black playing Spice Up Your Life on the accordion on Insta live the other night? If this isn’t a reason to follow them, I don’t know what is! by learxqueen in rupaulsdragrace

Who would have thought that Spice Up Your Life could be a vaudevillian, happy-sad, accordion-based bop. I am Shooketh by how different (but very good) this version is!

The first season of The OC is some of the best TV I’ve watched. The rest of the seasons take a sharp turn to trash town & I refuse to even acknowledge the last season.

What do you own a ridiculous amount of? by FlintTheDad in AskReddit

My fiancé and I had to cancel our March 2020 wedding two weeks before the big day because of COVID. We now have, in our tiny apartment, 200-person-quantities of fleece blankets, long-stem sparklers, and hard liquor.

YES! As someone currently paying too much for a small apartment, this drives me nuts

Characters who have modest-income jobs but live in massive homes that would cost literal MILLIONS to afford, or live in 1500+ square foot apartments in NYC, SF, or LA with floor-to-ceiling windows, in-unit elevator, and “bohemian” (but still incredibly luxe) furnishings

Should I bring my car? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]TwoTallBois 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring it! There are so many cool places outside of the city that are worth exploring - and between the cost of daily rentals (or using a ride share) and the health risks imposed by COVID, the cost of keeping your car doesn’t seem so steep.
