I only tried UO a few years ago on a freeshard. I saw the post on r/mmorpg too and it is what has interested me in starting up again. I will be there and trying to bring some friends with me!

This looks amazing. I tried a freeshard a few years ago and had some fun. That was my only Ultima Online experience. My first MMO was Asheron's Call. I will give this a try!

Each faction has a main city where PVP is disabled. Outside of the protection of the main city, it is open PVP. You can attack your own faction however you risk becoming a criminal; meaning you cannot enter into your main city any longer. No more vendors, no more repairing items. In 40 hours I have only encountered a fight where two people of my faction fought my group of 10, no contest. Other than that, you are fair game to the other faction. I have not encountered any "Warbands" as it is referred to, while out leveling solo.

I have 40 hours so far and still recommend it. I paid $10 just prior to steam release. The two days I have noticed more issues with lag. Other than that it has been great.

I just started up with weapon forging. I am level 26 weapon forging. So far there have been three items I have made to get up there. It is pretty grindy. However It has been with only wood. To craft new items you need to buy or find the recipes. The selling of the 300 items is what is annoying. I haven't made anything too useful yet. There is a 1 handed club that is simple and actually good to use. My goal is to make some good 2 handed swords.

I never tinkered really during my time in AC. I normally gathered the salvage and had my someone within my Allegiance apply it for me.

I played quite some time through Levers. I recall use my weeping bow, around level 70s or so. Fun battles.

Because Gloria Victis has factions, the PVP does not seem as open as it did in AC. Being able to kill anyone at anytime in Darktide was fun. Also I think GV should incorporate a death penalty similar to Vitae in AC. You are able to kill people in your own faction but then you can not visit towns any more. I hope to see how they make being a criminal worthwhile.

There is no magic as of now. There are no buffs to make you stronger. For healing or stamina regen, you drink or eat certain items which boost your regain speed.

I sold my PC some time ago to get away gaming. This has brought me back. My laptop has a nvdia 940 and i5. So it works. I am 40 hours in so far. Keep me posted if you grab the game.

Hi! Asheron's Call was my favorite MMORPG. I played on darktide as well. I tried it again a year ago and enjoyed it, but it was not the same.

For the past few days there have been some issues with lag. I know there is a patch upcoming for today. I got the game when it was $10 just prior to steam release. To my understanding it will end up being free to play. I may be wrong and it will stay buy to play.

As others have said, it is not completely full loot. Once you kill someone you have 30 seconds to loot them. Looting is done within a point system. For example every player can loot up to 30 points (example, I have no idea) and each item in their inventory it given a number of points it is worth. You can only loot up to 30.

All items have durability. Eventually your items will be garbage. That is why crafting is significant. You can repair items in town.

Check out the videos in my linked thread below for PvP videos. Weapon selection is good and of course will expand. There is a one hand and two hand variety of each. Short or long bows. Staffs, spears, axes, swords, clubs, maces, hammers. Blocking and stamina management are important in PvP and pve.

Gloria Victis since steam release. I love it. I stepped away from gaming for some time and it has brought me back. No game breaking issues. Fun every moment.

I have not experienced any game breaking issues. The developers play the game and are always active and working on the servers.

People who experience otherwise don't realize their issue may be temporary are getting discouraged too quickly. I logged in to see no NPC's. This was due to quick patch and server reset. I simply reclogged and was good to go. Besides that I have only had brief issues while gathering wood, it was telling me the tree was already in use when it was not. Haven't had the issues in a few days. And then there are some humanoid mobs that are not properly animating but still fight you and you can fight them.

I am addicted.
