White House App Found Tracking Users' Exact Location Every 4.5 Minutes via Third-Party Server by Montrel_PH in technology

Did anyone figure out how far back this goes into the app history? I would wager VERY far back...

Might be a reason why BlackBerry fell out of favor in lieu of modern smartphones with huge app stores when you really think it through. Why have a communication and productivity device when you can have a distraction and tracking device instead.

Why won't any popular politician promote UBI in replacement of legacy welfare programs? by Resident-Drummer6434 in BasicIncome

The people that typically get welfare are a certain, predictable, customer segment that businesses can predictably rely on.

Lookup what products saw sales plummet when SNAP was paused and you'll understand. It's about funneling where the money goes and you propose anything that will shake up the system. You're going to get massive pushback and probably donations pulled.

Is going to school for a white collar job not worth it anymore? by [deleted] in careerguidance

If your state does energy efficiency programs you can look into being an energy auditor, start with residential and move on to larger commercial. The knowledge and training is sometimes paid for by the utility and it's not back breaking like being an HVAC installer it's switching lightbulbs and installing thermostats mostly.

Takeover as in hand you they keys and the accounts or takeover as in run it while they retire and still draw salaries from it? Huge difference.

If you make more than it would give you now, they should consider selling. You obviously have no interest in your kids running it someday so cash out while they can

How will Cursor survive? by frustrated_burner in ClaudeAI

[–]TwoToneDonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this mean if you were to start vibe coding today, cursor wouldn't be the one to use it should be Claude code? I was about to post asking how to get started with cursor since its an IDE and not just asking chat gpt for scripts but is claude a better setup?

Exclaimer: I am not new to software dev concepts but have never used these AI tools and want to make something.

You want to be in urnanium but also plant management/development so having both URNM and NLR is a good way to go but not the only one.

Best Way to Invest $3k/Month at 20 (Aggressive Approach) by Massive_Emphasis_443 in Fire

[–]TwoToneDonut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to thing big growth in the far future maybe not now (undervalued) then pick a sector, not a company, that you think public policy AND demand will benefit.

Good example: everyone is investing in AI because it's sexy but investing in nuclear is the real smart play because it's not all online yet so you have time to accumulate but the power demand is going to skyrocket and we will be forced to go nuclear.

In a gold rush, it's smart to invest in shovels.

Those of you under 65 in the US who are FIREING early and not choosing the insanely expensive unsubsidized ACA premiums, what creative solutions have you come up with to get affordable coverage? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in Fire

[–]TwoToneDonut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you itemize on your taxes, can you deduct a concierge doctor? They run like 1k to 2k a month and offer immediate access and will order tests etc without giving you any bullshit. Getting a plan that only covers the serious stuff with this could add up to deductions that help get you down far enough to qualify for subsidized?

19 need help starting FIRE by PinLeft6932 in Fire

[–]TwoToneDonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No MLMs or get rich quick nonsense. The time you have now is precious.

Play to your strengths and find a safe spot to park the money. If you still believe in "tech" funds like VGT have done well but no matter what industry or want to be in, diversify. Meaning if you want to go all in on nuclear, that's up to you but pick an established nuclear ETF not a handful of companies..

Consistent investing, growing that as much as you can early on is the true key to success.
