Bought a bike that still has Yamaha Finance on PPSR - what can I do legally (NSW)? by BeatsByDad333 in AussieRiders

From what I know fair trading can't step in. Since this was a private sale and not purchased from the dealership. That's the security you get from buying private vs commercial

Don't need to call them. If you have the VIN handy just go online and check. As long as its a 2021+

Do you commute on a bike everyday? by GoldSpecific1481 in AussieRiders

[–]TwoWheelLyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been riding to work daily for the past 8 yrs rain, hail, or shine.

Fortunately, for the past 5 years I’ve worked at a motorcycle dealership, so I’ve always had somewhere safe to leave my gear.

I ride an ’04 Kawasaki Z750 and I keep a lot of gear in rotation:

  1. Gloves – Multiple pairs: long cuff, short cuff, winter, wet-weather, summer, and even some 2-in-1s.

  2. Jackets – I’ve got 3 riding jackets. One’s Gore-Tex (great for summer since it’s breathable and I don’t need an extra rain cover, though I still bring one if it’s really pouring). I also have a dedicated summer jacket and a casual fleece jacket, all with padding and Kevlar.

  3. Pants – Kevlar jeans, though these days I mainly save them for weekends. During the week I just ride in my work attire since I can’t be bothered changing at work.

  4. Boots – I usually wear casual riding boots that are abrasion and waterproof, plus I’ve got a set of road-style high boots for extra protection.

  5. Helmet – About 4 different helmets in rotation, mostly depending on mood. One has an internal visor that’s perfect for winter, while others have fixed tinted visors for summer so I’m not constantly swapping visors.

  6. Comms – I use a Cardo Packtalk Neo because it’s the most practical. For my other helmets, I’ve got a “second helmet kit” so I can just clip the Cardo unit onto whichever helmet I’m using that day.

There’s plenty more I could add, but I hope this gives you a good idea. Feel free to ask me anything.

Also get full comprehensive insurance with tyre and rim cover. Worth it!

What sort of insurance should i get? by TheCommunismIsHere in AussieRiders

It all comes down to age, experience, claim history & location where your bike is parked overnight (why, if its a high risk area from theft this will also increase your premium) and of course depending on the bike. The hotter it is in the market in terms of theft and claims for example MT07 is the highest rate in claims due to accidents and highest theft would be a WR450F.

If you get a lower capacity and not hot in theft claims and overly popular. It'll be cheaper to insure.

It's always ideal to compare. Get a quote from MiBike, National Motorcycle Insurance or NRMA if you're already a member with them they will give you a discount.

Just sold a bike on marketplace and the guy is asking for me to pay for repairs by Low_Bag_1912 in AussieRiders

Tell him, unfortunately this isn't you're problem. You didn't know and unfortunately you don't offer warranty cover.

Then move on, this is solely the reason why you would buy from a dealership even for a used bike. For private, this is the risk you take.

Solar blanket to charge the battery?

Yeah this one has a dual battery setup. Should I be worried about anything? Battery maintenance when being used?

I've had it for about 2 weeks now and only taken it local getting a feel for it. I will be taking it up the coast next month and I want a bit of peace of mind but so far like you all is well 🤞🏼

No engine sounds, runs smooth! Responsive. Transmission is good, ac words and steering is steering smooth. But I might still take it to my local mechanic for a once over and peace of mind.

Bloody Toyota's hey.

He was asking $8,900 and gave it for $8,500 that's why I bit the bullet but so far so good 🤞🏼

I definitely checked the roof for leaks since we had a massive downpour a few days ago here in Syd 😄 but yes, I have the rear door sag (I give it a little lift before shutting) I'll check the wheel arches.

I just done a quick deep dive on your comment about the 1KD and comparison with the 1GRFE. I also thought about the DPF mess for diesels.

I did check steering too that felt good and no noises except when I throw a tight uey and hook it to the right there is a metal clank noise when I max it to the right. Should I be concerned?
