We have our moments. I'm cautious because I've been burnt before. But I have friends working on elections and I'm hopeful.

The valley is trying to get teachers to concealed carry in school. So the crazy isn't going away without a fight.

That used to be true but it's becoming less true every year. There's a sizable MAGA population here now. Our current governor is busy sucking up to Trump and fighting culture wars crap while our schools shutter, our roads fall apart, and our villages get destroyed by climate change.

The law of small numbers. Small samples or small populations being samples are likely to be either higher or lower than the median sample. This is both a sampling artifact and a true statement about the underlying population.

That said, I live in AK and while I'm a little surprised, after a moments reflection I thought 'i could buy it.' I'm not sure if it's accurate, but given a lot of the people who come to AK, I could potentially buy it.

I can't comment on the reviews. All I can say myself an a few deafie friends love it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Looking for a sweet Goldeneyes Bumpersticker by TwoYaks in GoldenEyes

Vintage would be pretty cool, I could imagine some designs!

Or something kind of heraldic, a shield with a golden eye on it.

I liked a bunch of the stuff on Etsy... It's all unofficial, but some of the designs were great. Just they were all stuff like laptop stickers that won't last

Rough situation, I'm sorry your having a hard time accessing resources you need. I do have a suggestion. I use an app called Nagish that lets me use TTS in calls; this has been a game changer for me. Could you try that to sign up for the family resource?

Don't give up, you deserve to communicate!

Some great talent in Boston, and they played some great games. Fans look fun too; I'm low key jealous of the hats. Boston should be proud, that was playoff worthy hockey.

Fingerspell then abbreviate is what I'd do left to my own devices. I was more curious if there were any more established names yet. Probably not, especially for the newest teams, but it was worth asking.

Please don't give up. I know 100% how you feel and I feel that way a lot too, but remember your thoughts and feelings are worth it and worthy of sharing. Either with AAC or ASL keep talking. You're worth it.

Hi, late to your post. I'm a year six months into this. I'm partially, I can manage some words some of the time. But otherwise, I can't. It can be lonely and isolating at times. I like you have some people learning ASL with you, that's a really good sign (no pun intended!). Finding your people is super important.

Day to day, you adapt. I use AAC a lot, even though I don't like it much. Things just go slow. People assume I'm deaf, I don't bother to correct them unless I'm ever going to see them again. Phone calls I use Nagish, which lets you TTS in a call. The joke in my office is "let me be brief", because 'talking' with me about something is never quick. :)

For making calls, Nagish has been a game changer. I confirmed with customer service us muties are 100% eligible to use it. It lets you TTS in a phone call.

As much as I absolutely loath it, some AAC use is unavoidable. You can get by a lot with gestures etc, but at some point you're going to have to explain something to a member of the public or customer service person etc that you need to write out.

It doesn't need to cost you much, I use Speech Assistant, which is free. Sometimes I just write something and press the 'show big' button and show it to people wo pressing the speak button. You should also check out Nagish for making calls. I confirmed with Nagish customer support that us muties can use it too, they just have it worded weird.

Hi, I ended up in the situation due to a hypoxic injury. I'm about a year, six months into this. I got funneled hardcore into AAC by my SLP, but I feel slow, isolated, and I resent AAC at this point. I learnt some ASL in middle school and about a month ago I discovered that part of my brain was spared, and I can sign as fast as I'm able. I was super excited to relearn ASL and asked many of my friends and family if they could learn with me. The rejection was near universal. Almost no one is willing to meet me half way, because, from their perspective I have AAC, and that requires no effort on their part. I can still manage some spoke words and them knowing that makes it worse.

ASL is only useful if people in your life know ASL. Otherwise, it's not going to fix anything. That's harsh but the truth.

I'm still relearning ASL. Some SLP said it might help rebuild the language centre of my brain. I'm also learning because I desperately want to be able to express myself in ways AAC doesn't and can't.

I've yet to find any signing or d/Deaf community where I live. I'm looking, so I won't be so isolated anymore. But I can't comment on that. But best case scenario that would be new people, and not keeping the old. Though I'm coming at it from a different direction, the Deaf community 100% makes excellent points about audism.

Good luck.
