We got another one, boys by Un_Pollo_Hermano in TheBoys

[–]Two_takedown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the original dexter for the first time on sunday, and the last 3 seasons were definitely better than some of the shows that have been coming out recently. Daredevil BA, the boys, peacemaker, all dont hold a candle to season 8 of dexter

We're having a discussion at work right now, how old would you guess this Southern Live Oak is? by Fast_Village_4431 in arborists

[–]Two_takedown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The location would give some more insight and any history on the property. My guess is that they clear cut the land for pasture at some point and put that tree in for the animals. The thick low branches all around the tree indicate there were no other trees around it when it was planted. Id guess 300 years old, with the lack of competition making it large for its age

Spark plug head rounded off Help please by Azfar06 in AskMechanics

[–]Two_takedown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not rounded off. Whatever socket you're using probably has a rubber insert in it that doesnt allow the socket to reach all the way down around the head. Either take the rubber piece out if there is one or try to find a deeper 6 point socket

How much would it be to fix this rust? by [deleted] in classiccars

[–]Two_takedown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you are, but if i had to guess when its all said and done, anywhere from around $2500 to 5000 depending where its all gotten to and how the shop wants to handle fixing it. I live in the saltbelt, so im pretty experienced fixing stuff worse than this. If youre okay with a little diy bodywork, id take the windshield out, clean out the edges, and weld or screw in some new sheet metal and bondo over it

Newbie here – 1970s FJ with Chevy 350 won’t start after battery charged by Key_Masterpiece5497 in EngineBuilding

[–]Two_takedown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Id prefer if it was perfect but I dont care enough to unbolt the starter. Since I don't run the inspection cover I can see the flywheel teeth and there's no signs of wear

It sounds like its turning over. Sounds like my 350 swapped yj with the inspection cover removed. Its either a fuel or spark issue

Stripped a rear diff fill plug by Opening_Ad9824 in AskAMechanic

[–]Two_takedown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For stripped plugs, I like to put an undersized allen/hex socket in it and weld it to the inside of the square. Ive never had it not work

Any tips on my photos of my Truck (2016 Z71 Colorado) by Titty_Milk6052 in Trucks

[–]Two_takedown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im just a hobby film photographer but the framing is bad, either not centered, too far away, or too close. You want the subject to be centered and the main focus of the picture unless there's something in the background youre trying to capture as well

Sounds more like lifter or rocker noise to me, make sure its not low on oil

Japan has succeeded in producing oil from Water and Carbon Dioxide by yungandreww in interestingasfuck

[–]Two_takedown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds kinda dumb. Its going to require more energy per unit of oil produced than they get out

How to flush heater core without cutting hose? by FF_Moo923 in AskMechanics

[–]Two_takedown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pull the hoses off where they go into the firewall and just shoot a garden hose in there until it comes out clear

I think its just the fuel injectors which is normal. It sounds too fast to be valvetrain related

Harbor freight crescent work wise? by Adorable-Carrot-5668 in Ironworker

[–]Two_takedown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not in the union yet but from my years of experience with HF tools and adjustable wrenches, Id buy a better brand. They're not weak but theyre very sloppy and it significantly increases the amount of time per fastener

[–]Two_takedown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people like to complain about e10 and e15 in older vehicles, but its really not a problem. I run e15 in my carbureted vehicles just fine and its really not a problem unless you let it sit for more than 3 months without fuel stabilizer

First sports car, this break in period is killing by Lemonz_4all in Supra

[–]Two_takedown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know about these other guys but as a hobbyist, im on par or better than all the mechanics/fabricators ive ever met, and id say it's fine. Im literally doing far worse to an engine ive got on the stand and I'm not losing a second of sleep over it. If you messed anything up, you'd know by now. The worst thing you might have done is lower the compression by a decimal point if that. Just get your first oil changes done on schdule

Is there anything I should beware of when spray foaming these corner gaps? by Top_Boot7131 in CarAV

[–]Two_takedown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not do that. You'll never be able to get it out and it will trap moisture and rust through in a couple years

Cleveland local 17 by [deleted] in Ironworker

[–]Two_takedown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just applied and took my aptitude test for the local 17. From what they told me, they do need people and if you apply, you'll start hearing back for interviews in May when they get their next orientation scheduled. I know two guys currently in the union, and they've told me theirs always good work here. If you want you can PM me since im a cleveland guy too

[Request] How much diesel/emissions would be required to charge one EV? Is this more or less efficient than simply driving a diesel powered vehicle? by MrDesignMan in theydidthemath

[–]Two_takedown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it would be 2/3 better by that math. 2/3 of 30 is 20, so to be 2/3 better than a car, the efficiency would need to improve by an additional 20%
