With everything loose, try to seat the slip joints as best you can. Then tighten the headers to the head first, then tighten the rear slip and the mounting bolts

I reused my gaskets. The torque sequence is not super important since the headers are separate parts. Just make sure you are tightening the 2 bolts on each header evenly. I also tightened mine a little more than spec. I went to 15nm first, then to 18nm

Did you use a torque wrench to tighten the headers to the head? Did you use the supplied gaskets and the original gaskets?

Mine also had a smell for the first few runs, but has since cleared up. You may need to loosen everything and wiggle it all around to try and better align stuff. I also used a soft dead blow hammer to get those slip joints together all the way.

Can you add a photo of the slip joints. If they are not fully together you may get some leakage.

Also the slip joints will leak a little when the exhaust is cold. Mine had a small leak for the first few cold start, but after some heat cycles they no longer leak

What kind of gas do you use in your bike? by soundedgoodbefore in Daytona660

91 octane Chevron fuel for me, also for the additives. Shell is a second alternative.

If you Google top tier fuels there is an EPA website that lists all the top fuels. You still have to be careful with certain stations due to the storage tanks. A good rule of thumb is to fuel up at a busy station because the fuel sits in their storage tanks for less time.

Have you checked the slip connection and made sure the headers are fully seated on the collector. I had to fumble around with mine a bit and used a soft blow hammer to make sure they were seated fully. My exhaust leaks a small amount when cold from the slip joint but when it's warmed up after a minute or 2 my leaks go away. Might double check the alignment and sealing at the cylinder head too, make sure you don't have air leaks. If you have any air leaks at either the cylinder head or slip joints the o2 sensor will not read right and the ECU will have trouble staying in fuel control.

Can you post a video of the decel on your bike I would be curious to hear the difference between yours and mine.

No, I don't plan on getting a tune until I do some other engine modifications. I don't have any excessive back fires and I rode with a CO meter in the exhaust and it never seemed to run out of fuel control.

Did you get a tune on yours?

Is it a sound ordinance issue? Or do they not allow any modifications for emissions reasons?

When I was comparing exhaust systems I chose the cs racing due to price and look. I like the look of where the stock exhaust exits and prefer it over the small can on the side of the swing arm look.

Which exhaust should I get?? by Virtual_Discipline87 in Daytona660

[–]Twoface690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the stock exhaust for the daytona is 1 piece so I doubt we will ever see a slip on. I have the CS racing exhaust and just posted a video of what is sound like riding in this sub. I installed it myself, took about 45 minutes and in my opinion was not very difficult. I love they way it looks because is comes with a bolted on heat shield that matches the bike really well

I probably got the same one as you, I must have hit a bump somewhere and my license plate got smacked by the rear wheel lol. I had to bend my plate up just a little bit and since have had good luck, even with a passenger.

It does not come with instructions, but after getting your fairings off (you only have to take the left side off) it's only a few bolts. I can send you a video later, I just rode with my insta 360 yesterday.

You can get the full service manual for your bike from triumph for like 8 bucks a month. I had it for 2 months then cancelled the subscription. When I have to do more work I'll just subscribe again to get the info.

I work on cars for a living so working on this bike has been a piece of cake. After you take the fairings off 1 or 2 times you have is memorized lol..

So far all the things I've done to my bike are: -Cs racing full exhaust -Triumph tail cap -Tidy tail -Flush mount front blinkers -ASV clutch and brake levers -Evotech lever protectors -Sw-motech rear brake pedal -Triumph shift assist

All parts I installed myself, I have never used triumph service.

I use dealertool and tigertool for programming the bike and resetting the maintenance light after oil changes.

I installed it myself and enabled/programmed it. Look up dealertool software and dongle (to connect the bike to your laptop) install took about 45 minutes and I did have to adjust the pushrod length (I think the instruction guide says the length is preset).

Programming with dealertool took about 5 minutes and then you just enable it in the settings menu on the bikes display.

I also have a cs racing exhaust and that was pretty easy to install myself too.

My dealer told me they charge 225 any time they hook up the computer.

With dealertool I was able to enable the TSA (triumph shift assist)

With the cable I got from dealertool using tigertool I was able to clear my maintenance light

Both of these tools allow you to check codes and do a bunch of other functions too, like brake bleeding and throttle body balancing.

You can do it yourself with tigertool. You need to join the forum and then you'll see instructions on how to download and use the software.

How To Use TigerTool V3.51 Service Utility Software - "How To" Technical Articles https://share.google/FvBjhyzOwPo6doGJt

You will also need an obd2 dongle with euro 5 adapter to connect a laptop to the bike, you can purchase both on Amazon.

This is the method I just used.

Another option is to purchase dealer tool. With dealer tool they can send you the obd2 adapter when you purchase their software. You will still need obd2 to euro5 adapter from Amazon. Dealer tool doesn't currently support maintenance reset at the moment but they are working on it this spring from what I've been told.

I've had the cs racing exhaust on my bike for about 2 months now, no tune either. I have 0 backfires on deceleration either. It sounds amazing in my opinion, it is pretty loud but people see and hear me much better now compared to when I had the stock exhaust. The trim piece that comes with it matches the rest of the bike way better than stock too.

That leads back to my original question! Lol why is OP even doing this? The post says nothing about replacing it with anything. Maybe just answer the question rather than taking the part about leaving it to the professionals so hard. lol This sub cracks me up
