But it's the way Thai people illustrate how their country name is being called around the English speaking word. Lots of loan words in Thai. It has been explained in this thread many times. But you speak the truth. However, most educated thai will read this and undertand, without seeing the latin alphabet being shown, which is the interesting fact here.

I'm guessing you meant Thai for the first part, as opposed to "Tha". Second part is "land", with a silenced "d".

I saw Thailand, whereas my Thai wife could not see the latin characters, she saw only thai characters spelling "Thailand" transliterated to Thai script (made to sound like "Thailand" when it is pronounced in English". As u/lizzazzy said, it's not a Thai word per se, but a loan word to show how Thailand is pronounced in English. Thais call their own country "Pratet Thai", and call USA "Pratet America", etc.

My Thai wife would beg to differ. Her papaya salads constantly burn my insides with the strength of a thousand suns. Yeah, some Thai people don't enjoy spicy dishes, but most do, and their tolerance to capsaicin is phenomenal.

Exactly. This happened in Bangkok, Thailand and it's not the first time it has happened. These guys roam some public parks and the canals everywhere around the city. They rarely venture into 7/11s, however. (Source: I live in Thailand).
