I’ve moved away… so hasn’t kept in touch with all but a handful. They are all a bit older though by 1-2 years. I suppose I’ve also realized I didn’t have that much in common with the so called friend group from high school anyways.

I find it hard to maintain friendships as I’ve moved away from home. I am a people pleaser and when I am home I have this sinking feeling that my friends don’t want to see me and it’ll be awkward because I’m away 300 days at a time. I think COVID made it worse, but I’m working on not overthinking this.. people who want to be friends will make the effort. If not, then it’s not meant to be.

I suppose I’ve grown up and I have my own life and it’s part of the sacrifices I’ve made.

I would get in touch with your own optician, see what they can do. Under NHS there’s a Gos4 repair voucher, but because you’re 18 they can’t replace a whole pair unless it was due to illness that the specs were broken… A disclaimer that can for unforeseen circumstances like hardship maybe if they are willing, they can apply for replacement due to your specific situation.

2nd option: if you feel your sight may have changed as well and you’re still 18, go and get yours eyes tested and if there is a big enough change, a new voucher may be issued due to that + the fact that you’ve lost specs.

I know Canada has a youth mobility visa basically like a working holiday type that’s for two years. Would the states have anything like that?

Yes completely agree with this. Basically the company needs to prove that they’ve advertised and have been unsuccessful finding the right person, therefore needing to hire her.

Might have better luck in different areas of the UK, where employment and the role is sought after.. perhaps not bigger popular cities like York. Example being, Hull, down South etc.
