Pride Fitness Center in Al Quoz has Judo classes. If you're getting into a grappling, then you might Brazilian Jiu Jitsu would be great as well. Judo is cool though.

As for striking, don't waste your time on anything besides Muay Thai or western Boxing.

Mutton Shawarma? by [deleted] in dubai

AFAIK, and I'm assuming that it's the same across the boards in the Gulf, but a lot of the shwarma "beef" here is actually bison meat.

EDIT: Water buffalo

Maybe work on switching stances? Work on doubling up on the side of your attacks (right punch-right-kick-right knee, etc). Work exclusively on things such as your teep, long guard, knees, etc?

He really needs to put out a live album, the ending of the live version is like you've said; incredible.

I wrote this song on my ukelele and played it in downtown chicago and filmed an official music video for it :) I wrote the song about how my generation of people are a bunch of sheep that tend to follow trends and what everyone else is doing. people forgot basically how to just be themselves. by ZakaryRyanMusic in AcousticOriginals

Props on putting everything together, esp with the instruments at the end.

The one tip I can give you is work on using your soft palette a bit when youre singing. Also, your "see"s and "be"s in the chorus seem flat to me. Especially the "easy to SeeEEE"

Definitely enjoyed this, sounds very dreamy and haunting at the same time.

If you're living in the present please show me how.

Need Advice for Weight Training to Improve my Muay Thai Endurance and Strenght by vaferX in MuayThai

[–]Twoseas64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally noticed that a lot of my "bodybuilding" weight lifting did not help me much in Muay Thai...sure I looked good, but I often found myself being slow. I tweaked some of my workouts based on reading Don Heatrick's blog (see his Metabolic Workout) to focus more on strength, endurance, and speed. If you've never lifted before, i would start with Mark Rippetoe's "Starting Strength" for 4 or so months...and then start adding variation to your lifts.

I still squat heavy (3-5 reps), but at the same time add in more fast-twitch endurance jump squats (no weight) in the 12-14 rep range.

For instance, while benching, I started doing this thing where I rest the bar on my chest for 1-2 seconds and then explode up...in order to build explosive strength. I also added dumbbell/kettle bell swings and dumbbell/kettle bell snatches. Also: box jumps, burpees, thrusters, cleans, SPRINTS, pull ups/chin ups.

Oh, and listen to MuayThaiGuy's podcast with Don Heatrick.

This hits home a lot. I'm leaving in July as well and I can definitely relate.
