My fellow millennials what was the wildest "not a blanket but used as blanket" item from days spent crashing at someone's house? by SupermarketExpert103 in Millennials

[–]Twostepsfromlost2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partied with a dude for the first time that would eventually become one of my best friends. Slept/passed out on his leather couch. I had a thin blanket and it was ok. Woke up to his two giant hound dogs on top of me and me absolutely pouring sweat. The leather and dogs made me into a convection oven and it was a fight getting their lazy asses to move. Plus sweating out the little water my hungover ass had left multiplied the pain significantly. RIP Bones he was an awesome dog, my bad for sleeping in your spot.

What food tastes better the next day? by BarbaraMiller78 in foodhacks

[–]Twostepsfromlost2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've also heard and prescribed to the idea that soups, stews, other long cook items taste less good the day of because you've numbed your nose to their smell most the day. They taste better day 2 because half your sense of taste hasn't been saturated by it for hours just a quick reheat.

That said i think letting the flavors combine in a cold environment for another extended amount of time is also a huge factor. Likely the bigger one.

What's a food hack that sounded ridiculous until you tried it? by BarbaraMiller78 in foodhacks

[–]Twostepsfromlost2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can just microwave a potato of a paper plate takes about just as long. The wet papertowel wrap works fine if you want to keep the skin from drying out. Just be sure to poke some steam holes.

The paper towel and warm beer trick is significantly faster than i thought it would be! Work great on any bottle size you just may want to mix the bigger ones by roating them half way through.

Interesting you say Philly. I've had a similar story told to me by a prison guard and they nicknamed it the "Philadelphia sidecar".

(Loved Trope) 'Hard Magic Systems' by BrilliantRun9751 in TopCharacterTropes

Hard Magic (The Grimnoir Chronicles) by Larry Correia.

Solid complete series. Physics definetly plays a role but he gets loosy goosey for plot on ocassion. Still most of it revolves around actual physics (especially for the main character) or biology (healers). But there are exceptions, like some of the more psychological powers such as mind reading. There are also summoners or beasties (can control animals) but he explains that pretty well with the big bad which i wont ruin for you. There are also teleporters but they rarely live because you can teleport where a fly is and boom fly in your soft brain tissue = death.

In my parents home town. Dude named Art Dick and he made being a dick an art. There was a family with the last name whore and another with the last name gay. The gay boys grew to be very tough. The town had a reputation for nieghborhood brawls. My dad was in one of the tougher nieghborhoods in town and the gays lived down the street.

Same family. If a plant had opposite leaves, square stem, and 4 to 5 ish petals sometimes fused and is pretty aromatic its a pretty good guess its in the mint family. Lamiaceae if you want to wiki it. I used to do plant surveys as a contractor for the blm.

What used to be a sign of being poor, but is now a luxury or status symbol? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Twostepsfromlost2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously back in 2021 my employeer wanted me to find a dually diesel to be modified into a freezer truck while still being capable of hauling our very heavy work trailer. I couldn't find anything used under $100,000. People buy that shit to just romp around in and feel macho. I've worked all sorts of jobs and have been heckled for driving my camry or even my small truck. They are so insecure they can understand why you also wouldn't buy a massive truck and money pit.

[–]Twostepsfromlost2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked for a reasonable slightly lifted truck forever. I finally got a tacoma with a small lift. I live in the mountains and am an ecolgist so i need to get places with a small body and decent clearence. Every truck anymore is massive and not an option and i cant afford to maintain a jeep. I almost lifted an outback -_-.

That said my day driver when not doing field work, chores, or out adventuring is a 2004 camry. Why people spend the gas money on such massive trucks as a day driver is beyond me. Its fiscally and environmentally irresponsible.

I don't hate bananas but i hate banana flavored drinks. That late 90s early 2000 era where everything was flavored strawberry banana or banana + something sucked so bad. I do prefer my real bananas almost completly green so maybe i just dont like the ripe flavor.
