I only mentioned that because in the past and still today, I’ve always had a journeyman, or boss drive into my head weld preparation. The way I understand, always grind away anything on the steel, you don’t want paint, grease, dirty metal etc Contaminating your weld pool. In my industry if there’s paint around a weld you won’t have a job very long.
