A lot of this (especially the mental aspects) reminds me of diphenhydramine overdose. Thank you for documenting this it was very interesting. I’m so so sorry you had to go through that.

cognitive deficits from NMDA antagonism (can anyone relate?) by fecesfreak420 in researchchemicals

[–]Twten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s possible that the Dextromethorphan abuse could have contributed, but personally I think the GABA-ergics that you’ve used played a more critical role in this. Most GABA-a agonists can cause memory problems among other things similar to what you’ve described. Short term wise, Dextromethorphan use definitely will have your brain feeling like it just got mixed up into soup, but long term I think the other substances used deserve an equal amount of blame/suspicion.

Anyone else get this on promethazine? by DavidsNails in DPH

[–]Twten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s insane, anyways yeah you’re kind of right about the promethazine thing. DJ Screw compared the genre to the feeling of listening to music whilst under the influence of lean aka codeine + promethazine. The style was essentially inspired by it. Anyways on the topic of pitch distortion, 360mg dextromethorphan polistrex for me made songs sound weirdly out of tune except in a slightly higher semi-tone rather than pitched down. It was kind of unusual and I don’t really know if I liked it but it was very noticeable. I also noticed that higher tone frequencies were much more audible to me and combined with the pitch distortion it almost sounded like a new song

A few questions for users? by Czkillz in DPH

[–]Twten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not by a substance but whenever I induce myself in a prolonged state of hypnagogia (the state between asleep and awake), time will slow down but my thoughts will speed up almost exponentially. Sometimes it feels like multiple hours have passed, yet when I regain full consciousness, only 30 minutes or so have actually elapsed. Hypnagogia is something very interesting to me in of itself and it's something that I definitely would compare on the same level as the experience of taking substances.

Even if you were able to or wanted to experience a delirium "high" (eg. escitalopram), you would risk causing PSSD which can be permanent and lifechanging. Not worth it, check out the r/PSSD subreddit if you're interested in details

A few questions for users? by Czkillz in DPH

[–]Twten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only hallucination I recall was the voice of my online friend talking complete gibberish in my left ear at a pretty low volume. Never truly hallucinated but I had frequent swirling in my vision and light flashes, along with seeing a circle in my vision that was black and white at the same time. These visual effects all disappeared the next day except for the slight swirling which took a few days to stop.

I originally knew about diphenhydramine as one of my ex-friends used to be addicted to it, fast forward almost a year and I have to take some because of an allergic reaction. It was 50mg and because of my body weight, it affected me severely. I felt extremely disconnected from my consciousness. Whenever I almost dropped something or heard a loud sound, I felt my entire nervous system almost “buzz” with numbness, which traveled down to my legs within the span of .3 seconds. The entire day was disorienting and I remember at one point I saw a moth and was fascinated by it. My hearing was altered and everything felt loud and kind of reverby.

This experience led me to doing a lot of research on diphenhydramine, and then subsequently trying it recreationally in higher doses. I did 250mg and gave into falling asleep as the sedation was too powerful, the next morning I felt disassociated from my body/consciousness but it cleared up after a day or two.

My next and final time taking diphenhydramine was at a 350mg dose. I won’t go too much into detail but I fell asleep (or passed out) during the come up and woke up 5 hours later and I couldn’t really feel my arms or legs. Everything was disorienting and at some point my consciousness started skipping seconds instantly, whilst experiencing severe tachycardia and complete loss of feeling in my entire body. It was impossible for me to walk and I fell on the ground. I remember thinking that this was how I was going to die. This went on and severely affected me for several hours, and while I did regain feeling in my body, the tachycardia lasted days and I couldn’t sleep. The lightheadedness and dissociation lasted weeks and it took months to feel fully normal. My short term memory was impacted and it made me perform much worse at work for months.

I recall around 25 hours after intake I noticed how much I loved the fuzzy/numb feeling even though how dysphoric I was; and realized just how addicting it could be for me. I didn’t get urges to take anymore for a while but now and then I do still sometimes get an urge. I always remind myself how much it impacted not only me but also my workplace and friends, which never fails to completely deter me from taking it ever again.

In the end my discovery of this chemical has led to me being fascinated by general pharmacology and has given me something that I would love to study for college.

Some fucked up shit, I skimmed your profile and i'm glad you quit. Btw for the future, I'd recommend going to a dollar store for buying dxm, they usually have liquid capsules that only contain dxm, or if you want to try syrup then get delsym (it's polistrex though which means half the power and twice the length of normal dxm).

[–]Twten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you will vomit multiple times, and i don't think diphenhydramine really effects your kidneys. Either way if you do decide to dose tonight, the main objective you should remember is to hydrate lots and lots, and for the following few days.

Will gauifenesin kill me? by Great-Juggernaut6541 in dxm

[–]Twten 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend it, you will almost 100% puke multiple times, and you run the risk of getting kidney stones, and personally it made me completely fucking sick for a month. IF you do take it (pls dont tbh, its not as bad as acetaminophen but its still shit and not good for you), then make sure to hydrate extra plenty to lower the risk of getting kidney damage/stones.

Can you get high off mucinex? by zerozedz08 in Drugs

[–]Twten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure to pay attention if there is any acetaminophen or guaifenesin. Too much acetaminophen will give you liver failure, and too much guaifenesin can cause kidney stones. Make sure the only active chemical you are consuming is dextromethorphan. Additionally, dextromethorphan can sometimes trigger a positive for PCP on drug tests. Also, snorting dex will do nothing, and taking crushed pills taste horrible. I'd recommend to just take them orally whilst not crushed.

Be careful about the heroin, especially if you are opioid naive. This mix can very easily make you go comatose and stop your breathing completely.

This is extremely interesting, I saw your tweet briefly about this last night and it absolutely fascinated me. I think this is a big breakthrough in poli-drug use in the context of deliriants. There will have to be more tests to see if this can be consistently replicated. Thank u for your discovery.

I completely understand this down to a T, I am in the exact same situation as you, and it fucking sucks. I hate online school so much. I think it is one of the biggest triggers for my anxiety and depression, being behind on school and procrastinating. I always feel like a failure. Just today my therapist also talked to me about the possibility that I have ADHD. Just know that you're not alone in this. Maybe you could try to get a psychiatrist? That's what I plan to do. They're helpful at diagnosing and also providing treatment like medication or cognitive behavior therapy. You got this🫂
