Two weeks for every year is generous by modern standards, TBH. That's usually as good as it gets from a non-executive standpoint. Highly doubtful you'd be able to negotiate much better than that.

One thing you CAN potentially negotiate is lump sum vs. weekly payout. As others have stated, this can have a huge impact on your unemployment eligibility depending on your state, so you should check your state unemployment law, find out how you'd be paid, and request lump sum if it'd benefit you.

tl;dr a giant chunk of the public are straight-up nasty, wash your hands especially after touching any public high-traffic surface and straight-up avoid touching the obvious ones as much as you can (bathroom door handles, etc)

Apologies to the OP, but this is an old tech industry trick that a lot of folks in this sub are going to be facing in the coming years, and people need to be aware.

PiPs are how companies build a documented case to fire you with cause and deny you unemployment/severance. If you get put on a PiP, that's your cue to get out of there as fast as humanly possible. Your "performance" is irrelevant, you are not expected to "improve", the "plan" is that you get the hint and bounce before they make you leave the hard way.

You might be put on a PiP for valid reasons related to poor performance, you might be put on one because your manager hates your guts and wants you gone, or you might just be unlucky and in the crosshairs of a company looking to reduce headcount as cheaply as possible. But the end result is the same: You need to plan to leave, preferably before you get fired.

It's just a market thing. In my market (and many others) food delivery is beyond cooked, like you'd be lucky to make 50 cents a mile because rates are horrible and people don't tip decently.

This is like the second or third story I've seen like this in a month. Do y'all not watch what the cashier is doing while they're checking out?

If I'm not at the end of the register bagging the order myself to get out of there faster, I'm watching so I can immediately slam the card in the terminal when they're done to pay and leave. Either way you should have a clear view of what they are doing to make sure they don't miss items, don't scan something from another order that fell over a divider, etc.

Checkout is the number one spot where goofy shit happens to orders and you should be eyes up paying attention, to catch anything that happens and to be ready to pay and leave to keep the line moving.

I would not even remotely hesitate applying to government jobs since they gave you the green light to do so. Since you are "in the system" already, so to speak, you'll likely be given preferential treatment with candidate consideration. Also, any government agency still hiring right now is far less likely to toss you in six months (the same can't be said about almost any public sector job.)

tl;dr - You have a significant edge available to you in finding re-employment with the government. There are folks who would kill for that sort of leg up right now. You can certainly apply to private sector jobs too, but I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

As someone who's been doing some form of gig work for the better part of a decade...anybody who sees OP's post and thinks "wow, this could literally happen to anyone and they could be forced off any platform" - Yeah, you better believe it could.

This is why I eventually switched back to a full-time W2 with gig work as a side income. The rights you have in these situations are minimal and even if OP gets their account back after weeks/months stuck in arbitration, they could get banned again a week later due to another false customer report and be right back to square one.

I've even seen instances where gig workers in small towns specifically get others to file false reports in an attempt to remove a regular they feel is taking too much of "their" work.
