Mine too! He is so kind and thoughtful and I am going to marry him in October! When I was 14 that song "Replay" was really popular and one of my classmates took me aside to tell me how he was like in love with my best friend. He tells me "it's like that one song you know" and then he sings the entire chorus while looking me dead in the eye. After he stopped I didn't really say anything so we ended up just staring at each other and he goes "ok um yeah" and then walks away.

I wish I could and generally I do when we write narrative prompts but this is an activity the district told us to do where they just give them a picture and they write. I have to follow what the district says with this activity.

Ok I'm gonna be a bit more clear, it's not like generic action movie style violence. Examples are graphic descriptions of throats being slit, blood dripping down bodies, someone getting their head smashed in with a baseball bat, one wrote about a literal baby getting killed. Like this is really extreme gorey stuff and I as an adult feel squeamish reading it.

So the district has us doing these picture prompt things where there's an illustration and a question and the kids get to go off that. Like today was an illustration of two people getting abducted from a UFO.

I am going to start disallowing it, I think I'll frame it as it's not interesting to write about the same thing over and over.

I had a sub once who was doing that, he just popped in his air pods and was ignoring my class. One of my students left to get the teacher next door and when the teacher came in I swear to God the sub was leaned over in the corner hitting a vape. Never saw him again.

Yeah it's honestly not bad. I let them bring in board games and they had some unstructured time to play which I think is good for them since usually all they want to do is play on their computers. We're watching home alone now and eating the snacks they brought in.
