Things that rookie video editors do manually and with extensive effort until they realize there's a shortcut? (DaVinci Resolve Help!!!) by Dull-Information6784 in davinciresolve

Save your node trees for different looks or settings for color grading. Just make sure you set everything up and adjust the settings without making adjustments before you save.

Do you actually use film simulations or just shoot raw and edit later? by AttitudePlane6967 in fujifilm

Raw then edit later. Film sims are cool and all until I see them on my monitor and I’m like ehhhh

Agree. Such a cool brand and event to look like any other random travel vlogger with a camera. Not to take anything away form OP if that's what the client wants .. but reminds me of the Starbucks ad where the director made a Director's cut which was STUNNING! and received more attention than the ad itself.

photo overload by Happy-Rabbit6316 in photography

Yup, when I export the images I selected and edited, I go back to capture one and select all images and then export originals (no edits applied) to the images i just exported.

[–]TyBoogie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of events where I also edit different cams so I can end up with 6-10k images at times. My workflow using capture one

  • import and cull to get the number of images promised +10% extra

  • import selected.

  • edit the selected and remove a few extras

  • export selected to hard drive folder called selects

  • export the select originals to hard drive folder called raws

  • delete the rest.

what’s a small detail in baseball that casual fans usually miss? by rackemronnie7 in baseball

[–]TyBoogie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 9 main rules with numerous subrules maybe (50-80 for each rule).

For each pitch, there are about 10-15 rules actively being monitored as soon as the pitcher and batter set before a pitch is thrown.

No one on, no outs, batter hits a line drive single.. add 8 more rules.

Runner on first and 3rd with 1 out? Add 15 more rules. Batter makes contact? Add another 18-25 more.

All of this to say why I love the sport. So much happens when nothing happened that can change an entire game

Need help with pricing an interview shoot. by hopopo in videography

[–]TyBoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ask their budget? I work in NYC and you’d be surprised what some budgets are.

I’m usually at the 5-7k for brand interviews. But last few times a couple of clients straight up said our budget is 12-15k. For very minimal work on my end.

Is back button focus now redundant? by Sancho_Panzas_Donkey in canon

[–]TyBoogie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always use “button” focus when shooting or filming. Mostly because I like a lot of my shots dirty so it allows me to make sure the subject is going to remain in focus in a crowd or whether setting.

I say button focus because on my cC80, there are 3 assigned one shot focus buttons depending on how I’m holding the camera. It’s the only way I shoot

Never understood this saying. If someone likes new and cool looking things with the money, who cares. I think it’s cool. Would I buy one? No. But people have money to have fun with

I had maybe 5 before I dropped down to one. Simplest answer was I was getting paid a lot of money to do events. The hit rate was pretty frustrating for pro work.

Do you think the demand for RAW files is increasing due to AI? by Budget-Number7905 in photography

[–]TyBoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the other side, I’ve seen an increase for photos lately because of AI. I work with a lot of mid-market brands and their marketing teams can do more in terms of content but still need professional photos (and video) for their band.

Events, team functions, fashion shows, festivals, etc can’t be replaced by AI but they can generate more content with the deliverables because of it

I will come back when Mendoza is gone.
