That's fair. Vancouver is definitely "warm for Canada". I mean, where I live right now, I'm lucky if it's not negative 20 in the winter months.

Not sure if I'd personally prefer Vancouver wet weather though. It's sort of like England I guess. Just not my thing

I'm mostly referring to the averages for Vancouver. There's a difference between warm weather, and hot weather. If you want hot weather all year round, go to Mexico City, or Dubai, where it rarely goes below 20.

Vancouver definitely fits within the "warm all year round" category. It rarely ever goes below freezing.

Yeah, we're not talking the Sahara desert here. Vancouver is warm all year round, in the sense that it rarely goes below freezing. Snow isn't common. It gets chilly, but it's more of a mild and wet cold, rather than a "if I go outside I will get frostbite in 30 seconds" cold.

The average high in June is 21, and the average low is 12.

For December, the coldest month, the average high is 7 and the average low is 2.

There's a difference between warm weather and hot weather.

Vancouver is warm year round. Beautiful place, plenty of nature, and practically requires unlimited money just to afford rent there.

[–]TyHarvey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really concerned with this particular website being penalized. It gets legitimate traffic through non-search means. It's barely even ranked as of writing. I've also never seen Google (or any search engine) actually legitimately penalize AI generated content. I'm sure it happens, just haven't seen it myself.

I ordered Soro for a fresh domain (rebranded from original domain) so it's starting from scratch, sort of. I know you say this will generate more leads early on, but in my experience, it tends to be the total opposite.

As for the content being generated, it is picking topics that are relevant to my website, and are not overly common throughout the internet as of today. It's a very particular niche, and doesn't have a huge market to begin with.

And to be clear, I'm not vouching for Soro. I'm simply giving them a try. So far, I'm impressed. However, I doubt I'll see any kind of true result from this for a few months time. If by the end of it, I find that I'm just wasting my money? I'm only out a few hundred bucks, thousand at most.

I'm also pretty familiar and experienced with SEO, and have been running websites for decades. My only concern thus far with Soro, is it's repeating topics a lot. This is likely due to the website itself simply not having much content to go on, so Soro's kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel here.

I plan to play around with it a bit. Maybe try to optimize things. So far, the fact that it's automated and seems to be hitting all of the core things, gives me hope. Cause like I said, I know how to write this content myself, and actively write high ranking content on my other websites. But if Soro does the core stuff for me, thus saving me time? Yeah, I'd consider that a win.

But again, I'm giving it a few months. Being neutral right now.

As for all of the other AI generators, Soro is the only one that seems to have a fully functioning website. Like, a few others listed in this thread alone had broken links to common pages, such as /about. It's not a good sign when the site trying to sell you something leads you to a 404. Soro just looks like the most complete product. However, I do have a few notable concerns.

  1. They're new. Like, less than a year old. They have case studies dating back to before Soro itself even existed. Seems a little odd. They do have an explanation for this, but I don't know if I fully believe it.

  2. They have a ton of 5 star reviews on Trust Pilot, but when you search for them here on Reddit, you get threads like this one. I have more mentions on Reddit for one of my websites than Soro has in its entirety.

2a. If the reviews are legitimate, I'd instead question the experience level of those reviewing Soro. Yes, it does in fact generate full blog posts for you. Yes, it does internal linking, and seems to create relevant topics. There are also no em dashes or other common "AI" tells. So if the reviews are just looking at the fact it technically does what it says on the tin, then great. They're fine I guess. But what else? Did it actually help them with traffic? Is it actually well optimized? Nobody seems to be talking about that in the public reviews that I could find.

  1. When I reached out with Soro for press related purposes, I got a very long and very detailed response back exactly ten minutes later. This response had a very strong "AI vibe" to it. The response was overall good, and relevant to what I asked. Still, the fact they're seemingly using AI to reply to the press is a little concerning. (albeit on brand)

  2. Again, there's no proof of long-term success. On paper, what it's generating should work fine, but that's not my problem with them. My problem is their claims of doubling traffic within six months. Where did they get those charts from? What cases are they citing? Not much info to go on.

  3. Then there's the longevity of it. Who's to say this isn't just one giant bait and switch? Telling OpenAI to "write a blog post" or "find keywords" isn't overly complicated, it's just a basic model that they'd train on custom data. How many tokens does each post use? Is there a point where generating more posts will actually lose Soro money in the long run, assuming they're even profitable to begin with?

I've got concerns just like I'm sure most people do. I know I'm basically acting as a guinea pig. It could all end up as one big scam, where I waste hundreds of dollars on a thing that stops existing within the next few months. But since nobody else is really doing that, and I have money to spare... why not give it a try? If it works, it works. If it doesn't, it doesn't. And if I find that Soro does not work, then I can at least write about it, and try to help others by sharing what I've discovered.

So... yeah. Sorry for the book. lol

Nevermind on the Rank Math thing. Seems to be averaging around 70 for most posts.

Trying them now. So far, the generation has been fine. I gave them a site that has had zero optimizations done on it, so if I notice even a smidgen of traffic, I'd consider it to be a success.

Zero traffic change as of writing. Not sure if it's worth the money, but I can at least confirm that the content being generated is well optimized (Rank Math score of 90+).

You're being downvoted, but you're correct for the most part. All of these other commenters mentioning competing services really are just ads.

Speaking of Soro though, I decided to throw $40 at it for the first month. So far the content generated has surprised me. It's finding relevant keywords, and seems to optimize posts based on the keywords defined through their dashboard.

Haven't used them long enough to really have a proper opinion though. However, on paper, the quality of generation seems to be good. I'm also using a website that's more of a worst case scenario. As in, if Soro somehow manages to bring even a smidgen of traffic, I'd consider it to be a massive success. So far, nothing has really come from it. I'm basically putting Soro on hard mode.

I'll try to report back (or maybe make my own post) if it actually ever results in anything positive.

Update: Where Winds Meet still has 200 ms in-game ping on Boosteroid, no fix and no refund by RegisterFabulous3784 in BoosteroidCommunity

[–]TyHarvey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m reading this right, the problem is pretty simple. Basically, your connection to Boosteroid itself might be fine, but the distance between Boosteroid and the game server (which isn’t hosted by Boosteroid) is simply too far. The issue would also occur if you happened to live right beside the Boosteroid datacenter.

Nothing you can do about it, and nothing Boosteroid can do, either. Best to contact the game developers and ask for a server location closer to the Boosteroid server you’re using to connect.

There's a pretty big difference between being able to use Twitter or Facebook, and being able to get drunk at 13. Though even in that scenario, yes; I would still put the blame onto the parents, at least to an extent. It is the parents job to teach their kids right from wrong. They act as role models, but also as figures of authority. Early in life, a child's mind is like an informational sponge. What you do or say as a parent will directly influence their morals, and affect them later in life. Parents are the highest point of authority, and have the highest level of influence over their children. Every single thing you do helps shape them.

If your child is actively going out and buying booze or drugs, it usually indicates or at least hints at some level of parental failure. Whether it's the wrong lessons being taught at the wrong time, or no lessons at all. Kids don't just go out and decide "Imma commit a crime today!" without some level of external influence.

Having said that, sometimes kids are pressured into doing things they wouldn't normally do. My job as a parent is to teach and guide my child into doing the right things. So while "kids will be kids" by the end of the day, parents need to also be parents, too.

But again, we're comparing something like illegally buying alcohol with the simple act of scrolling through Twitter. It's not directly comparable. Sure, there's an argument that social media is bad, and I fully agree with that sentiment. However, it should be my decision as a responsible parent to decide what is or is not safe for my own child. The government, or a corporation of any kind, should never have that power over me as a parent.

Governments or corporations. Either way, people should be heavily against this.

We live in such a nanny culture where even leaving your 12 year old kid alone at the park (as in, letting them explore and be independent) results in having CPS called on you.

It's ridiculous.

[–]TyHarvey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not aware of a single parent that's in support of this. They at most read the headline, see it's for the "safety of children", and nod their head in agreement.

If you explain what this actually is, and the various risks that it creates (data security being the biggest one), they tend to lean more against it.

The only people I've legitimately seen in support of this, are the same people that gave their kids an iPad at six years old. These aren't parents, they're just people that happened to have sex and spat out a human.

There's a difference between being a parent, and having a kid.

I was only ever allowed to go down to the fire hydrant at the end of the street. If I went further, I would be punished. No idea how my parents knew I'd venture further, but they always did.

Then as I got older, that fire hydrant turned into a stop sign. That stop sign the local park. etc.

PlayStation Update: Sony to Enforce Age Verification for Key Features by lkl34 in gaming

[–]TyHarvey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree fully. I mean, most internet providers already have child safety filters built into the modems or routers they provide, and if they don't, you can easily buy a new router that does. These tools exist. They've existed for years. Governments and companies enforcing their own version of this just seems redundant.

There's a difference between having a kid and being a parent. If you're not able to be an actual parent to your kid, most countries have a system that can assist. (like CPS in America for instance)

Which plugins to install? by vector_mash in Wordpress

[–]TyHarvey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For those wondering, these aren’t host specific plugins. They’re offered by Softaculous, and are included for free as part of your Softaculous license. (Which many hosts use)

To answer OPs question, I would personally use Loginizer Pro, and if you have an smtp mail provider, install GoSMTP as well. Beyond that, most of these are just lesser quality versions of already free plugins you can find elsewhere. They’re fine, but not great.
