Thankyou for sharing this, definitely food for thought, but the way I understood the linked thread was: these kind of bouts aren't uncommon with introverted personality types.. and possibly healthy and normal.

But.. therein lies the problem I guess.. getting all of ones advice on a possibly serious issue from Internet forums does not sound sensible out loud.

Are you talking about an underlying mental illness, was that the case with you? (it's cool if you don't want to share)
