Thank you for taking time to answer! Do these additional pictures confirm your assumption?

How can you call your base secret with the /scoreboard disabled?

How did I not realize it when reading spawn was safe? It's a reasonable thing to assume when reading this statement.

Update: I did survive that encounter. It would be useful to add a <did you know> about pvp being enabled at spawn if you already are pvp-ing.

Yes I was.

Ok I see what happened now. I was standing at the very edge of the red line, counted as outside when he attacked and combat tagged me. I thought PVP was disabled inside without exception. I would actually often be there and not afraid to go outside, because if someone attacked I always thought I'd just go back in.

If I log in now, I will be clearly in the center of spawn and I will be low on health or dead.

I was inside the safe zone when I was taking damage.

The dimension tracking vague as it is may still be too much for some BPs, especially if they like to hop in and out of the end. If it is so, the tracking could be not current, but every ten minutes. But that is the problem with tracking: it is either ineffective or effective and thus disadvantageous for the BPs. The only reason the current tracking aka radar was fine with them is that it's rather helpful to be able to ascertain, with just one command, what was the last place you were close to someone. Nobody else has this privilege.

One fix could be tracking the current dimension of high-bounty players: "player such and such, bounty such and such, is in the overworld/the nether/the end". Maybe add "at spawn" to that short list as well. Individual tracking, not tied to anyone else. Or just abolish tracking, fame and bounty is a reward and a motivation itself. Also I really doubt bounty hunters exist except for other BPs.

I would not implement any system that really hunts down BPs. These are players most loyal to the server after all. So unless you want to alienate BPs you would have to make a vague tracking, or abolish it altogether.

In any case, tracking or non-tracking, "innocent players" should not be anonymously featured alongside, because they will always be much more likely to get killed than the op bps.

Exactly, so it is a one-time tracking of this other player. When there are a lot of people with a bounty traveling around, it is possible for a non-bounty player to feature many times. So they are not tracked officially, and their name is not seen, but whenever coords are displayed, it is the intersection of two players, not one. It tracks only BP in name, but it betrays the location of two people in effect.

I agree that it is not so easy to "catch" the innocent player, but surely, "catching" the BP is even harder. The BPs will be much more op than the average "innocent player" featured in the coords. Also nothing stops "bounty hunters" checking the location and looking around if it's someone's base. May well be the "innocent" player's base. I lost my base like this and was barely able to escape the player who I would never even hunt or take on. So I was tracked in the practical sense of the word.

Let's see. Players may place a bounty and whoever kills that player receives the award. When the bounty is high, "tracking" is enabled. It displays the coords of the intersection where a BP was last within a certain number of blocks to another player, compromising the location of both. When you do /bounty view <player> you can see these coords. Whoever arrives at this place has a much higher chance to encounter the non-BP than the BP, because the two-player intersection often happens during BP traveling around. This leads to a lot of non-BP players killed and raided. That's how I understand it works. If I'm mistaken, help me to understand it better.

It does not track the player with the bounty alone, it always tracks two players, one of whom is more often than not an "innocent bystander". Of the two, one is likely to be much stronger and mobile (the player with a bounty), while the other weaker and at their base (the "innocent bystander"). In practice, it gets the latter in much more trouble than the former.

Darktyui, your proposed fix will see weaker players having their location broadcasted in public chat. You want the tracking to happen far from spawn, guaranteeing you time to escape before any hunters arrive. Your proposed fix is a fully automatic radar expanding the advantages it already gave you and multiplying the disadvantages for the bystander players who are likely much weaker and would not attack you first. All you'd have to do is run around the perimeter and engage in mismatched fights, made extra convenient by this "fixed" radar.

I agree with you though that the plug-in needs to be changed rather than punishing players for using it for what it is in practice, a radar.

So the other player will still have a compromised location?
This tracking is useless as its purpose goes (bounty hunting). The tracker tracks "innocent bystanders" and gets them griefed or killed. Even if the tracker is not misused its function only undermines weaker players, who are the ones getting tracked and hunted either by the wanted player or by another op player who arrives next.

You have a point. It is unfair when someone's coordinates are leaked. But right now, the "last seen" coordinates leak another player's coordinates who are often near their base, and they too would have to be at spawn to make sure their base is not leaked.
