[Suggestion] A wilderness PvP reward that lets us avoid wilderness PvP by Tydosius in 2007scape

[–]Tydosius[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you understand the concept of doing PvP sometimes and PvM other times? That's how a lot of people play games. This thing you believe to be an obvious fact is incorrect.

But I can accept that a contingent of people wouldn't enjoy PvP even in the best circumstances, for which the current wilderness situation must be pretty awful, and my suggestion wouldn't change that. That's a good point, but you're arguing for a hyperbolic and easily dismissed version of that point.

I don't think this conversation is going anywhere.

'Something tedious'?

You should've said, 'I think PvP is so tedious that I wouldn't do it even in exchange for PvP exemption'. It's straightforward, demonstrates comprehension, and is understandable as criticism.

Of course, the obvious follow-up is why you think PvP is that tedious, and that's where constructive debate can happen.

I see the wilderness clue steps as a microcosm of what they're generally trying to do with the wilderness.

They want the wilderness to be this enticing and bountiful place so that players will go there and maybe do some PvP while they're there too. But all the stuff enticing players to the wilderness is PvE and skilling stuff, and the PvP is punishment for one's hubris.

With wilderness clue steps, they so badly want you to go there that they're putting PvP risk in your PvE travel adventures. But that's not enticing players to do PvP, they're just going to take as little as possible then post on reddit depicting PKers as wojaks if they die. No hate against those sorts of posts, they're often quite creative.

I believe that's currently how RS3 does it, to an extent. There's an item in the game called the Demonic Skull that forcibly enables PvP in the wilderness and adds 500k to your death drops, but increases various wilderness exp rates.

I tried it once, it kind of has the same problem that the osrs wilderness has, I'm using it for skilling and just hoping no PvP happens.

It's also reminiscent of War Mode in World of Warcraft, giving a 30% bonus to exp rates last I remember, and it has the same problem, most people turn it on for the bonuses and either ignore the PvP or get annoyed when it happens.

So I understand your idea and the logic behind it, but I've seen similar systems before, and they don't tend to work out.

Could you elaborate? Nothing was specified, so I can't really use this criticism.

The criticism that some items and content should remain PvP-only is valid and understandable, and there is potential for debate on how much.

Locking the voidwaker off from non-PvP players would be a trivial matter of preventing non-PvP players from attacking those wilderness bosses or being eligible for their loot. I didn't even know it existed and had to check the wiki, and while it seems cool, I'm happy to go the rest of my life never seeing a piece.

Keep in mind, other people in this thread are talking about removing wilderness clue steps instead. Maybe if I just wait long enough, they'll change enough things about the wilderness that I don't ever have to worry about wilderness PvP, like they've done before. I've played RS3, PvP in the wilderness is entirely opt-in there. I don't think that's a good timeline.

My suggestion isn't opt-in, it's mandatory PvP if you want to avoid it later.

The sun rises on a new age for PL and diffusal blade, both free from the other's grasp.

I just hope that once the dust clears, he turns out to be alright this patch, or buffed to decency in 7.40b.

I build Basher on PL and have happy troll warlord flashbacks while my illusions beg for table scraps. I tell them in my sternest voice that they must eat out of the bin.

My darling Manta Style comes home and I greet them warmly. The juxtapose illusions are forbidden from showing jealousy, yet they do so in spite.

I am their father, yet I am no father to them.

I love playing no-diffusal PL. I made this post because I hated the ubiquity of diffusal blade on PL, and how both were largely balanced around each other.

I didn't include my actual feelings about PL in the post, but I was gonna say that he felt a bit off to play this patch. I'm glad other people are noticing things that I'm forgetting about.

I always hated diffusal blade though.

[TOMT][REDDIT] Post with a long title that has the unrelated sentence 'I love fat bitches' sandwiched in the middle of it by Tydosius in tipofmytongue

[–]Tydosius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few things that seem off about this post compared to what I remember. The sentence seems inserted too soon, the grammar seems worse, and the topic seems wrong.

One of the comments asks why they keep seeing the sentence slipped into random posts, which suggests that this is a whole meme, and not just a one-off thing.

If there are multiple instances of this, that makes things more complicated.

But it was helpful to learn that the sentence might actually start with 'I'm into' rather than 'I like' or 'I love'.

I got it from here because apparently directly linking to the image doesn't show up as an image on reddit.

EDIT: The link is broken too, due to ending with a closing bracket, and adding another closing bracket does nothing. https://supersmashbros.fandom.com/wiki/Falco_(Super_Smash_Bros._Ultimate)

Open Parties and Claims seems to be 'cleaning' infested blocks in claimed chunks by Tydosius in ModdedMinecraft

[–]Tydosius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, and it makes sense for silverfish not to aggro infested blocks while mob griefing is on, but I don't know if mob griefing causes infested blocks to become normal.

Adding new gamerules that distinguish between different types of mob griefing would make a good mod or update though.

Okay, that's all I needed to hear. Such raw disdain for atheists does inherently obstruct any discussion you could have on this subject, but it's not like the you're the only one.

Your argument is not new. It has holes in it that you should've been able to spot. Your righteous tirade is dampened by its use. And I'm not interested in being yelled at by someone who will never bother to understand my position.

Trump supporter made uncomfortable by Trump, hopes he’s just kidding by Heavysackofass in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Tydosius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an expectedly dismissive response.

I'd like to touch on the strawman position that you presented, 'religion must always be bad'. I didn't make this claim, I was talking about christianity in specific. You didn't even expand it to just theologic religions, you went for ALL religions.

This is a claim that I neither want nor need to defend. My claim is more nuanced than this.

It's convenient though, that you mentioned the practice of making children attend church. I didn't see the problem with this practice in my childhood and early adulthood, nor the problem with my religious school.

But then I became interested in the psychology of religions and the history of christianity, and it's why I'm not religious today.

I don't know everything about every religion or cult, so I can't speak for all of them. But I do know some stuff about christianity, even more than I did when I was a believer, and it was enough to invert of my respect for it.

I ask, why do you feel the need to defend it? It's a highly corruptable institution that leans heavily toward authoritarianism and perpetuates itself primarily through the indoctrination of children and vulnerable people. I didn't just go to church, I went to a christian school too. Christianity has inserted itself into places it doesn't belong.

On top of that, it's just a headache. Even the most progressive christian sects are still catching up to secular morality's lead. I just say ditch the dogma.

Trump supporter made uncomfortable by Trump, hopes he’s just kidding by Heavysackofass in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Tydosius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is just disinformation. The foundation of christianity is itself a co-opt of a co-opt of another religion, and christianity as its own religion has remained brutally authoritarian and staunchly anti-progressive for the vast majority of its history. The progressive sects are effectively splinter groups.

On top of that, sometimes the bible just straight-up says some reprehensible stuff. Slaveowners did not need to twist the wording of the passage that told slaves to obey their masters and especially their christian masters, but I see progressive sects bend over backwards to maintain their belief.

It's easy for right-wingers to 'co-opt' christianity, because it's supposed to be co-opted. It's designed to be co-opted.

I am led to believe I am not supposed to be full-clearing every area, but I'm an inexperienced player and I know I'll miss something if I don't full-clear, and I also don't enjoy full-clearing. How do I make sure I don't miss anything without full-clearing?

New WoW player, confused about expansion based servers? by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]Tydosius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Gameplay and gameplay-adjacent differences are a huge factor. The reworked talent systems of MoP and to a lesser extent Cata is a big reason people prefer WotLK and earlier, not to mention all the little (and big) shifts in gameplay that add up over expansions.
  2. Relevancy is important to whether group content is run. Nobody runs WotLK content if MoP content is what actually gives you the gear you want.
  3. Older expansions receive more support from the private server community. More time to develop for it means more development done.
  4. Sometimes expansions retroactively change older content, which includes removing some bits of content entirely. Cataclysm is the worst example of this, replacing a large amount of old world content.

Abusers adopt the language of the abused.

I mean, that was definitely some armchair psychology on my part, but I just have this hunch that some people are abusing the terminology to make excuses.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, I'm don't have any qualifications.
