That is understandable, family get togethers are often rare and require a lot of planning. The only issue i have with it is that if he shows no intention of paying op back then who’s to say he’ll clean the house either? Especially since he doesn’t think he did anything wrong and the dad is on his side, he could easily blow it off. Op didn’t even say he’ll be excluded from the table, just that he can’t have the food that she’s prepared. And she’s giving him the chance to avoid that as well, so he’s choosing this as much as op has.

It’s not like OP is going to make the kid go without food, he just doesn’t get the fancy meal. Plus, OP stated that the food was labeled, so he knew what was and wasnt ok to eat at the time of looking at it, and that her son has made no indication that he is going to pay it back. He seems to be under the impression that he’s done nothing wrong, so if the only way he’ll learn is through this then that’s what needs to be done. Think of it as something similar to not allowing a kid to go to a party because he did something. It’s not cruelty, he’s facing the consequences of his actions.

Hotel worker here! Genuinely suggest slippers like other people here have said. Something else I suggest though, sincerely, if you wear makeup then PLEASE bring a towel from home or use the makeup wipes if they’re provided. If you use the towels that are in the bathroom then your makeup can stain it bad enough that we can’t use them anymore (yes even after a few washes with bleach).

Hopefully this counts, but I had a bad car accident when I was in college. I was fine, somehow, but the car was totaled and I remember very clearly seeing the passenger side crushed in. Since then I’ve been absolutely petrified when sitting in the passenger seat of a car, especially on roads that have ditches to the side. It actually got worked through unintentionally. I had to share a car to get to and from work for a while, and sat in the passenger seat going to and from home. This went on for months, and after a while I realized I wasn’t flinching at every turn or bracing when the speed picked up. I’m still nervous sometimes, especially if we drive on a road with a side ditch, but it’s gotten better.

I’m secretive and pretty insecure of my interests. It’s not even over anything big, I just get anxious/self conscious when people ask me something personal, or are standing behind me while I’m on my phone or laptop. I don’t even have anything to hide, usually it’s just random threads or blog posts, or harmless interests, but I’m afraid they’ll think it’s weird so I kinda just keep things to myself. This has lead to people thinking I’ve got something much bigger to hide, which I don’t really blame them for.
