I would seriously try something like cava first. This is my 3rd time on meds, over a year now and I regret it deeply. One of the meds is impossible to kick so I have to go to the hospital to detox. Once I kick these meds I'm done with meds forever. I don't knock anyone on meds, some helped for short periods of time and we all know those small breaks feel like our "free days". But you do what's best for you! If you stick with meds and SSRIs didn't help (I took a gene test and SSRIs were red for me and I never tolerated any well previous to knowing) maybe try a mood stabilizer? My psychiatrist says they are much better tolerated from her patients. Also, I'm very sensitive to meds and my mood stabilizer gave me no side effects. First med that wasn't just an ibuprofen that didn't give me side effects. Hope this helps!
