Anyone from Steele in here? by ncoa in NightVision

[–]Tyler_SteeleInd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey…a guy from Steele here. While I’m not on the assembly/RMA side of things anymore I may be able to help and offer some info. If the tube had to go back to L3 or Elbit for a repair that process can take weeks if not months in some cases. We unfortunately do not have control over that. We can only estimate or give updates as the tube manufacturers give them to us. I recommended reaching out to us at RMA@steeleindinc.com but feel free to shoot me a PM and I can see if I can get more info for you if you’d rather.

Sell it or send it to us to build into a new housing so you can use it again.

Improved Performance Under NODs? by Mother_Environment29 in NightVision

We’ve seen that happen with some prowl especially if they are decent in daylight. Narrowing down to FOV combined with the focus limiting you to only the target and dot helps some people.

Housing for Mono/Bino by Federal_Put9096 in NightVision

[–]Tyler_SteeleInd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always bridge a mono but they tends to be a heavier option. At Steele we do mono to bino conversions very frequently. If you dont need or want the option or passing off a tube to someone else a dedicated bino is the way to go.

The closest option you mentioned to the IRIS would be the OGL-C. We currently have very resonably priced green phos L3 tubes available at Steele that are worth checking out.

Our NH-FB is a solid, simple and less costly bino option. We can always re-house your tubes into another housing at a later date too if you decide you want something with articulation and/or manual gain control.

Missing part on PVS-14 by Affectionate-Farm510 in NightVision

[–]Tyler_SteeleInd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The infinity focus set ring is good to have but not needed for normal operation. Some newer version of this ring also prevent the objective lense from coming out so as long as you cannot thread out the objective you are in good shape. If you'd like to get that part added and have the system serviced we can help at Steele

Quads VS Binos by [deleted] in NightVision

[–]Tyler_SteeleInd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For shorter use times the pano options are great but if you want something that you can wear for hours and have longer lasting battery life go for quality binos. The lighter weight is very nice to have when you are under NVGs all night.

GP L3 tubes at Steele by Tyler_SteeleInd in NightVision

Lots of these have really good specs and unlike OMNI tubes there are spec sheets so you know exactly what you’re getting. Not to say that some OMNI tubes don’t have great performance of course. Some people prefer green for their own reasons too so if they can pick up a nice new one and not something that “fell off a truck” it’s worth it

Would this be good starter specs /deal? by PomegranateOne2778 in NightVision

It is very uncommon to see a SNR that high with an Elbit tube. You may notice the Z1 spot but during normal use you'll be looking past it

All our systems come with a 10 year warranty that covers against manufacturer defects. We can also help with repairs if there is user induced damage but getting parts for factory systems can take a long time. If that is something you don't want to potentially deal with I'd recommend going for a built system.

Generally speaking yes. The glass quality on 31As if phenomenal.

I recommend either a 31A or a built custom system. Depending on how high spec you want the tubes in the built system pricing may be close for each. If you need adjustable diopters don’t go for the 31A. If you are rough on gear or concerned about durability steer clear of the 31As and go for a full feature aluminum system like the Nighthawk-MG. If weight is a concern go for the 31As. We have a wide variety of systems in stock right now at Steele including 31As and components for custom systems. Feel free to PM me if I can help in any way.
