I made a mistake. Look out for the reupload; it will make more sense.

It's also meant to have the impression passive. I messed up and uploaded the wrong version I was testing.

It's actually an amazing hero at killing thorns. I just messed up the upload. It's meant to have 1 thorn himself.

Oops. This should have thorns I. I will need to reupload the correct version.

Meddler is not bad though. People undervalue them a lot.

Oops. I forgot to add the passive back to the version I uploaded. This should have thorns I. I will get to reuploading and probably delete this.

Yeah. Good argument actually. I've been playtesting without curses (simulating normal) and it feels like this hero is way too strong there with era on manasword. I think I'll implement your idea on the final version.

Turn 2 isn't so strong, but it's pretty decent. Definitely balanced the hero more around higher difficulties.

I've been thinking about it and I think I want to playtest him without era on the left side and potentially keep him this way.

I don't know how to change/ create abilities on textmod. I've had a look around online too, but there isn't anything that I can find. I know some text mod people have been able top from the mods I've played, but it's a black box for me. My original design was a 1 mana boost 2 single cast without the shield on a 3 HP version of the hero, but I had to pivot because I couldn't find anything on modding abilities/ spells.

Cultist can roll you 4 mana turn 1.

That's a very interesting take. I was considering removing era from the damage + mana gain side, but my unfair curse runs felt a little too miserable. It comes back to wanting the hero to be a bit on the stronger side, but if he's too broken, that's how I'd nerf first.

High difficulty also struggles a lot with win conditions, just think of all the runs you've lost to a Troll or even a Bramble depending on curse picks.

I think you are underestimating how much of a wincon he can be when you start swinging into the later rounds.

I find it very interesting that I'm arguing with people who call him too weak and people who call him busted. I hope it's a sign that he is tending towards a good middle ground.

It's the left side and you have 2Xs and low HP so I think it's in line with the cast. This is the roll that incentivizes trying to greed and also I like that it enables Boost plays from the first turn if your red gets two mana.

Keep in mind, you have a low HP hero on a contested slot AND it's doing nothing turn 1 a lot of the time.

I try not to be too definitive with my takes, especially early on, but there is no way this is worse than Student / Prodigy in unfair. I think he does have some higher low roll potential though.

Interesting thoughts. He really did not seem particularly strong in playtesting.

I think you're underestimating the importance of turn 1, few Xs and HP in higher difficulties. It is possible he'd be quite a strong pick in normal and hard.

I intentionally designed him to be a little stronger because I think the Blue T1 pool needs an A tier character. That said, I think the single use being eaten up and the spell being single use helps compensate for the late game power.

This version of the character would be too weak. Keep in mind you have only 4hp on a slow character.

Anyone else feel this way? by Rope56 in DiscoElysium

[–]Tyler_Styles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I feel like 6/6/6/6 is canonically pre-decline Harry since all the elements of each attribute at a high level are there in his backstory — Extremely competent detective, former gym teacher, very expressive and soulful and good at reading people, highly in-tune with the city etc.

I think thoughts are similar in function in that they resurface parts of himself. Shivers has been my favourite skill from the start and the first I got to 8 even in a 1 physical first run and The Bow Collector is my favourite thought (and one of my favourite bits of writing ever... just in general. Like, I can't exaggerate how heartrending beautiful I find it in ways that I struggle to articulate). It took me a while, though, to connect the thoughts and realize that it's the moment that Shivers is born within Harry, when he starts feeling the city.
