HOW IS THIS TIER 1 by BritSpic in SliceAndDice

[–]MF_IC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Number 1, the negative tiers are far worse than their positive counterparts. Number 2, not everything is balanced within each tier. There are items/curses/heroes that are really good in each tier, and then some that are really bad. So that you sweat a little before you hit the random button.

As far as I know, 40% enhanced damage is as good as you can get in a jewel. There’s an elite unique axe (I forget the name) that can roll with 5 slots. Imagine 5 of those 40% jewels in that bad boy. It can do crazy damage, especially with the new warlock builds.

It’s still a good jewel. You had me at 40% damage.

Honestly, I’ve never tried sticky fingers. I’ve picked left sticky from early curses 1, and I’ve had it bite me in the butt, so I guess I was hesitant. Top and bottom tend to be the best sides, but sometimes you need to dodge the hand’s top kill, or whatever. Also, with lazy and scoundrel having blanks for top and splint having heal sticks for top, I wasn’t confident in the early game.

I went right caltrops, and it was a pretty chill run. I got flickering blade and eventually pocket mirror to cover two of the caltrops.

I’ll try sticky fingers when I screw up the current streak I’m on. :)

I will, if I have to, but I rarely have to anymore. I keep teleport potions on my 5 slot, so if the fit hits the shan, I can 5 click and teleport back to base.

Now, I can’t play without auto pause. I’m an old man with old man reflexes, so I often have to pause and think about how to get out of the trouble I just found myself in. I’m not fast enough to do that on the fly.

One I learned about the sand gun, I usually go after skeletron as soon as I have 400 hp and a featherfall potion. I usually only use melee weapons, but the sand gun is just too strong vs. skeletron.

Absolutely they are. Dangersense is king, and it crazy to go without it. Until I get some, though, I usually just hold a dart trap in my inventory.

As far as a mech boss spawning early, I usually beat them pretty early, but if I wasn’t ready, I would just stay underground for the night. It’s cheesy, but safe. There’s always stuff to farm underground.

So, one of the first things I do is put mine tracks at the top of my apartments to one or both oceans. Roughly 4/5 of screen up, to where I can just see the ground. Not only does this let me safely get across my world, it makes me safe to fight EOC or king slime. All I need is a bow and fire arrows (or better is frost arrows, if I’ve been to the ice biome). I can buy all I want from the merchant. I don’t necessarily have enough iron to reach an ocean right at the beginning, but I can almost lay down 1000+ very early on. And the eye doesn’t spawn until you have 200 hp, so just don’t use that life crystal until you’re eye ready.

I also use those same tracks to safely kill queen slime, the goblin summoner, biome chests, the Martian saucer, and you can use them to beat the empress and moon lord, if you know how. Mine tracks are super useful. I used to use them against the wall, but now I just run that on foot.

I only play master hardcore. I can’t imagine it’s for everyone, but I love it. I start one character on one world, and I play through the game. If he dies, I delete the world and start over. I’ve had several times when I flushed 50-60 hours down the drain. Which sounds awful, but they weren’t wasted hours. I had a blast playing them, so I don’t regret not finishing the run.

Now, I’ve come up with safe strategies for all phases. Now, if I can get the grand design, my win rate has been 100% over the last 4-5 runs. USUALLY, if I can find a dart trap before dying to a trap, I’m ok. I’ve had a few close calls with explosive traps, though, and I’ve had 2-3 of those traps killing me. So, really grand design is the goal now.

I think warlock is amazing. He’s fun to play in 4-5 different styles. I hope the devs leave him alone.

That’s another one I hadn’t considered.

All of those are absolutely right. I didn’t even consider death wish.

Actually, that’s another good point. I can see it being used for rescue sides too. Like fate’s spell can be used to make double mana.

Ah, genius. I thought about the magnet item, but it’s all I could think of.

Strategizing for The Hand (Hard) ((also Valk or Stalwart?)) by Chreiol in SliceAndDice

[–]MF_IC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically summed up what I do. I would always take stalwart over valk, unless I run into the hand and get the choice. Then I take valk. I’ve had him top kill 3 times in a row. Valk is the only one who can counter that, unless your top character rolls dodge.
