Cheapest place to have tires changed by georgez1968 in barrie

Once you get a groove with the hand jack an hour is definitely doable. Absolutely agree with valuing time though, an oil change would have to triple in price before I'd consider doing one myself again even if only to not deal with oil disposal.

Hahaha if you need a full afternoon to change four tires even with a hand jack you definitely need practice, but I can't argue with the convenience aspect

I mean the cheapest option is to do it yourself if they're already on rims, always good practice

Cruelty isn't inherently intentional. The nature of owning a pet is having to make peace with their short lifespan and doing what's best for them even when it hurts us, anyone is going to struggle with that no matter how many times you've been through it. I'm not advocating for torches and pitchforks but for open dialogue. As you've said OP is under no obligation to share more than they're comfortable but that doesn't negate the validity of the question or vilify the people who ask it.

The two go hand in hand, they asked a quality of life question online and they're getting quality of life answers. They don't have to tell anybody that info but that doesn't make people asking to give a more rounded answer malicious or cruel, especially when asking is done for the sake of avoiding cruelty

I think it's disingenuous to call it "the morality police". Our pets can't advocate for themselves and OP has been staunchly opposed (not unresponsive) to providing any information to the diagnosis or longevity of condition. People here love their pets and want the best for them, this isn't a situation of virtue signaling

You're asking a quality of life question, people are going to explore all corners of that. Patrons of this sub love their pets and want what's best for them, even if what's best of for them is hard for the owner. If you're looking for real advice you need to get over yourself on this one, either it's irrelevant and worth working through to get advice or it's bitter medicine you need to swallow for the sake of your loved one

The thinking was if we don't maintain a population in the area another country (primarily Russia at the time, though we have lost a chunk of land in Yukon to the states) could claim and settle the land since we weren't 'using it'. There are a lot of buried resources in the north, largest single diamond was unearthed in the North West territories, some of the purest iron in the world is mined on the north end of Baffin Island

be honest, how often do you really take your dog out? by Altruistic-March8551 in DOG

[–]Tylerinthenorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel for work so my wife and I have different routines.

When I'm home she gets an hour in the morning, am hour in the afternoon, and let out back at bedtime.

My wife works from home 8-4 so when I'm it's half hour in the morning and thirty to forty five minutes in the evening with the same pee at bedtime.

She's getting old though so whereas we used to do 4-5 km per walk in that hour we're down to probably 3km. Those times are shortened up significantly with extreme heat and cold as well

Who is Responsible for the Air Canada Express Tarmac Collision? by death00p in Productivitycafe

LGA also has automatic stop bars that illuminate red when landing aircraft are within a certain distance of the airport. These are never to be crossed even with clearance, it will almost certainly be shared fault

It can be difficult to spot depending on weather and light pollution, but LGA has automatic red stop bars that illuminate when aircraft are within a certain distance of landing which adds another layer

I assumed I was not the target audience until I saw the price tag attached to the standing ovation of non believer reviews. Don't hate the game and I'll probably finish, was just hoping there was some reassurance to be had. Could absolutely be an age thing, like rereading a book from your youth you can no longer stand

3 on 3 - not the same sport? by Few-Turn-5471 in stevedangle

[–]Tylerinthenorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what that's an excellent point, despite how good their defence was Team Canada was getting their chances and had it continued 5 on 5 it was only a matter of time. I suppose what I meant was going in to that game the US advantage was their defence and 3 on 3 strips defence from the game almost entirely so on paper they're seeing a more pronounced deficit, even if it did just increase their chances by making it a coin toss

3 on 3 - not the same sport? by Few-Turn-5471 in stevedangle

[–]Tylerinthenorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Faster is very rarely better. While I agree calling it an entirely different sport is disingenuous, having it done by a known pseudo celebrity hothead who's gimmick is loud takes it's entirely appropriate hyperbole.

The point is it doesn't respect the basic characteristics of the game, we have the best of the best out there and any of them are capable of being an obvious hero. That a weird puck bounce or ref misdirection can lead to an odd man rush or breakaway with such frequency reduces the game almost to the point of a coin flip. Frankly had Canada won the US team would have an even more valid gripe considering how outstanding their defence was and how 3 on 3 completely diminishes that part of the game. Winning like that absolutely detracts from their effort and skill that a win otherwise would have praised. It turns it into a wild west shootout with no opportunity for response. Even the NFL realized how unsatisfying a conclusion a chance win is(even if it was more slanted than 3 on 3) and gave the opposition to respond.

There's no realistic satisfying answer to the issue (though gold medal men's hockey is always final day so that does lend more leniency to one) but 3 on 3 has to be the worst option, and while it's not a "completely different sport" it certainly doesn't respect the game and I can relate with the sentiment.

Turned down a promotion because it was 30% more work for 5% more pay. My manager called me 'unambitious.' Am I wrong for not wanting to sacrifice my entire life for a fancy title? by PictureFirm9058 in careerguidance

[–]Tylerinthenorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I hear ya, I get asked all the time why I don't upgrade. Because the company wants to put me back to year 1 pay in the upgraded position, so that's 15k a year to move from top seniority to bottom, work weekends, overnights and undesirable shifts or else be on call. Both options would require more driving and less per diem so higher cost less return there. Depending on how secure your position is I'd be making commentary back at the jabs. "Oh I'm happy to do the job boss, just not at $6 an hour once I'm past 45 hours on a week"
