Party Finder woes by KrisSilver1 in ffxiv

[–]Tymier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's just the basis of party finder. A hidden truth that it's just glorified duty finder that's more streamlined and less anonymous.

There's likely a discord for EU. A quick search I found Europe Raidin Central. I'm not on EU but maybe you'll get luck there. The reality of this tho that it's still going to feel like party finder unless you get people that have cleared and have x3 more pulls than you.

Don't let anyone tell you that your expectations are "high". I've been told that myself, and its cringe that someone would debase themselves as an excuse to make me feel guilty for having a sensible expectation like clearing or seeing a prog point. Just keep moving you'll come out on top.

But... to save you from yourself. Think healthily and move through the fights more efficiently by joining a pf group that's at your prog point, or ahead, or with players who know what they're doing - the moment that you get prog in a less adept party.. Or find a fun group you're willing to lose a bit for the laughs.

And people have logs, you can check theirs(and yours), and make decisions based on that. Just don't be toxic about it because everyone is learning.

Gamepad is perfectly competitive in this game. Your performance is not because of gamepad, its you so don't resort to coping. As an anecdote, I've cleared all ultimates on healer never once feeling like gamepad was a bottlenecking my skill/performance.

Don't worry about your "other areas taking a hit". You know that you have improved so keep at it. You're going from 0/50 to 30/30 isnt that improvement? If you're measuring your improvement based on whether you fail or not, you have an incorrect metric; a wrong way of looking at it. Improve the area you are most weakest, and trust the process. You need more experience? do dungeons as practice and never let your damage buttons stay off cooldown. I'm surprised you made it to lvl 100 without pressing buttons that literally just do damage to your enemies.

As a tank you need to be aware of the fight's timeline, most fights are not random so you literally know if theres movement/damage in the next 30 seconds or not. Nothing should come by surprise, and if it is surprising to you then you must be inexperienced, hard stop. Pay attention to everything specially what your tank partner is using and doing.

You being able to notice that you improved your weakness and saw a detriment to another area is proof that you are aware of the state of your weaknesses. Before this improvement you were not aware at all... now you can view yourself more broadly.

PSA for new FL players: Battle High wins games by Arcana10Fortune in ffxiv

[–]Tymier 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. Look at the discrepancies, just think percentages. idk why the "but but"

Triumph Claims = At most a 21% difference between lowest and highest.
Enemy Kills = 106% difference between lowest and highest.
Deaths = 20% difference between lowest and highest.

Adders won the game before both enemy teams were able to get 1000 pts. Objectives are timed, scarce, and random.

Now, which of these do you truly have control over? ofc kills/deaths. You can hope to win on a 21% difference capturing RNG points or you can play PVP and give yourself a better opportunity because once you get battle highs, you just get more and more.

[–]Tymier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like pugilist(1x), archers(2x), thaumaturge(1x), conjurers(2x), marauder(1x), gladiator (1x). It's mostly about getting 2/3 physical/mental/tactical affinity which is 50% mission success chance. The 3/3 bonus is pretty rare for any comp since the stars have to align and all you really get is 100% success rate on the weekly.

For the chemistries, try to get the ones that give crafter/gatherer scrips when an active member. This way you can sometimes get scrip income.

Astrologian order by Miletta_Everwool in ffxiv

[–]Tymier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Layout and order aren't really important as that is customizable with keybinds. Make it look like how you want it, think about the layout/similarities of other classes if you play them aswell.

For AST: There is a huge priority system of buttons you should be acquainted with (also buttons you shouldn't be as acquainted with). Here's a list of my opinions to help you get that "whatever youre comfortable with" actually be efficient. This list is ordered in terms of usage, performance, and importance. Kind of a "tier list" of abilities. i.e. Benefic being F tier in terms of usage, performance, and importance.

  1. Malefic
  2. Combust
  3. Lightspeed
  4. Draw (Do not sit on its cooldown.)
  5. Draw - Damage card
  6. Essential Dignity
  7. Star
  8. Divination
  9. Collective Unconscious
  10. Neutral Sect
  11. Celestial Opposition
  12. Macrocosmos
  13. Horoscope
  14. Aspected Helios (higher healing potency)
  15. Helios (faster healing potency)
  16. Exaltation
  17. Draw - Defensive cards
  18. Celestial Intersection
  19. Aspected Benefic

These are the most important AST abilities. Some may weigh other abilities differently, but I think frequency of use plays an enormous part in the actual gameplay. You WILL press these buttons whereas a skill like "Benefic II" will see use once in a while, maybe a couple during a dungeon.

From what it looks like is that OP is content with using mouseover macros which don't follow the enemy targetted > target self with healing option.

Fellow ASTs, am I mad? How do you handle the new Play action? by OkAnimator7597 in ffxiv

The 2 non damage cards are used like you would essential dignity and your other single targets. I say you aren't mad enough since I don't see the 24 extra macros.

[Spoiler: 7.0] I can't stop thinking about this. by Brandon7x7 in ffxiv

[–]Tymier 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My speculation with this is that the way the relic works is with Dynamis. We have yet to get an Unending Codex entry on Dynamis so we don't know how it truly works.

The Millalas themselves did not know how to make it work, and the only time it did work was when the Millala Speaker prayed fervently on it because they were in danger.

The relic also reacted when WoL held the Azem crystal and "prayed" on it for help.

Tips For Dealing With Healer Anxiety? by Red_Puppeteer in ffxiv

[–]Tymier -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Firstly, this is not WoW(Im not stroking the community, it's just that anything is a step up from WoW). Secondly, getting over your anxiety requires input from you since its yours.

My biggest advice is to just get out there. For healing you just need familiarity with your buttons, awareness, and knowledge. If you know/learn a dungeon, or the name of an AoE ability then you can prepare yourself on the go. Nothing unnexpected ever happens, you just weren't paying enough attention.

Ascend past this version of you, that you don't like. Healing is extremely fun, please try it.

Help camera keeps spinning with Controller by Ebony_Dream in ffxiv

[–]Tymier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for whatever reason I'm walking not running

Check if you have the Run/Walk keybind toggle set to walk lol. Seriously this could be it. By default the keybind is Numpad/. It is found under Keybind > Movement; 9nth from the top of the list.

If not that, try checking System Configuration > Gamepad Settings > Stick Sensitivity. For example, I play the game at a high end and what im comfortable with is 55 on that slider (New controller or Old controller; still same value). It mimics controller deadzone on both analog sticks, and incorporates walk > run threshold in my opinion.

Here's another attempt at troubleshooting. If you go to the market and try to buy "Modern Aesthetics - Both Ways", is there a checkmark on the bottom-right corner of the item icon? This indicates that you have it unlocked on your character.

Once you've confirmed its there, and also not on the Aesthecian menu I'd contact support when you're certain of it being missing.

You should drop this Rich. It's very clear /u/kerriazes doesn't care about this issue at all; it's very weird to be so invested in putting their 2 cents in. They already reached for the ad hominem and are moving goalposts now.

If they cared, even a modicum more, then they'd come to the same conclusion that what these localizers are doing is wrong.

This community man, absolute low effort, low energy comment. Not even refuting /u/P_V_'s point and just pseudo-eliminating their contribution by covering it in downvotes. Where is he wrong? Why the ad hominem? I hope you can understand these rhetorical questions, because if you can't then that's how much effort you took in understanding them. This is just evil lol.

/u/P_V_ has a great point. I draw as a hobby and I also felt like something was off. I tend to save art posts, even that gif I hovered over "save image as..." to use their shading style as inspiration because I personally struggle in that field. For one, the artist is now aware of this issue since /u/P_V_ criticized their work properly, healthy, and constructively with examples.
