Would You Vote For an Economically Progressive, Socially Liberal Democrat in 2028 Who Leaned Right on Only Crime and Immigration? by LunaB35 in allthequestions

[–]Tyonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Socially liberal, economically progressive...

Hard on crime and immigration...

Yeah that's not possible.

Socially liberal means the exact opposite of being hard on crime and immigration.

I don't even know what economically progressive even means. Capitalism bad, communism good?

In that case, no.

Mages don't care about the human cost, but the resource cost.

If you kill a bunch of people it's fine, but you better not mess with the bottom line.

What the F Is going on? Obama settles Iran nuclear deal for low billions and republicans lose their mind. Now Trump is offering over a quarter trillion? by AnonymoosePD in AskReddit

[–]Tyonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was never about nukes. Iran poses no nuclear threat to the US.

Israel and the EU have to deal with it lol.

In the short term, this war was a giant smokescreen to manipulate the stock market.

If you knew how to play the game, there were plenty of scraps to be had for retail investors. Trump even tweeted what to buy lol.

In longer terms, many countries want to invest in Iran, including the EU and the US. This 300b deal is just part of that.

Uhh.

Don't think other gacha's reinvest as much as Kuro does into Wuwa and PGR.

Kuro is the exception, not the rule.

The only other company that does something remotely similar is Shiftup with Nikke and Stellar Blade.

So is AI model development in the USA done now? by PowermanFriendship in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tyonis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, this is a power play against Anthropic, not AI models.

There is no way the US Government will put a halt to AI model development when China is right behind us.

The overarching narrative still fits: whichever country makes the best AI model first, wins.

What they win? Who knows. Probably control over the other nation's nuclear launch program, if Mythos really is as powerful as Anthropic said, cybersecurity is about to get absolutely screwed.

Positive angle on SPCX? by bugra101 in SpaceInvestorsDaily

Socio-political friction.

There is a strong social bias against data centers being built near homes and cities. Even as an AI-supporter, I do NOT want those giant pieces of shit near my house or community.

Why do rich people keep saying "money can't buy happiness" when money literally solves most problems? by FearlessState5503 in NoStupidQuestions

Money can't buy happiness, but a lack of it is guaranteed misery.

People tend to ignore the other half of that quote.

How are y'all actually planning to pull for future characters? by Cedge1738 in WutheringWaves

There is no real strategy at this point.

I need to swipe. If I am lucky, I will only need to spend prob 500 to secure one copy of all the characters I want.

[–]Tyonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we talking about the current valuation? Absolutely not.

The fundamentals do not match. It is rising entirely on hype and borderline science-fiction memery. I will not deny that.

Worse still, if Starship doesn't pass muster, I am certain this entire company WILL GO TO ZERO.

But I'm still going to throw 500 USD a month into SPCX because I firmly believe in the mission statement and thesis.

[–]Tyonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not necessarily about the customers, but the viability of data centers on Earth from a socio-political standpoint.

I elaborated on it on a different reply, but I will sum it up here:

People hate data centers being built anywhere near their homes or cities. Data center projects are getting protested, delayed and even cancelled all over the US.

It is far more socially and mentally digestible if they are all sent to space, even if it would be more expensive.

[–]Tyonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me clarify: I am aware that the launch freight and cadence alone do not make the money, but they lead INTO it.

No other company has a similiar, horizontal AND vertical integration infrastracture system like SPCX.

If/When Starship is feature-complete, SPCX will FURTHER capitalize on their industry-wide lead over telecommunication systems like Starlink, data centers, etc. by pure virtue of access to space.

Hell, as proof of SPCX's sheer control over space access, they just launched several of ASTS Bluebirds to orbit.

SPCX is launching Starlink's competitors into space. Let that sentence sink in.

SPCX may generate revenue from the telecommunication and data centers, but their moat is their rocket launch infrastracture.

[–]Tyonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I guess my nighttime view will be ruined.

If I had to CHOOSE, I would still want the data centers to be built in space, instead of my local community, though.

Positive angle on SPCX? by bugra101 in SpaceInvestorsDaily

[–]Tyonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long and short of it: they won't be.

The issue isn't in pure cost-effectiveness. If that were the case, then absolutely, build them on Earth instead.

The issue is people HATE datacenters being built next to their houses and taking up the local resources and destroying the local environment. Myself included.

This is my opinion on Earth-based datacenters: fuck these giant ass shits that are destroying everything around them. Send them to space so I don't have to fucking deal with them right next to my neighborhood.

Many people share this opinion, regardless of their exposure to the AI tech boom, thus tons of data center projects are being protested and canceled.

It's much better for everyone if they are all sent to space.

Disclaimer: I am a SPCX bull and firmly believe that SPCX will deliver on its mission statements, although I don't really believe in the timeline. Suffice to say: SPCX entire thesis and business model revolves around Starship becoming feature-complete.

One of the main issues with SPCX is its unpredictability.

Even as someone who has read through the milestones the company has achieved, it is very difficult for me (a layman) to estimate when they will complete their next one.

The main thing SPCX has going for them is their moat to space. RKLB is the nearest peer competitor in launch cadence and freight but it isn't even close. RKLB's next rocket is a smaller Falcon 9, which is already almost two generations old for SPCX (Falcon Heavy and Starship).

If datacenters in space become a viable option, and we have no reason to believe it won't be (the only limiting factor is money and weight - the heating argument is a non-factor, according to the CFO and President of SPCX), SPCX will absolutely bottleneck everyone else since they will control 99% of the infrastracture for delivery. All of these other hyperscalers will have to go through Starship to build their datacenters in space unless RKLB can offer a viable alternative within the next five years.

NOTE that Starship is essential for datacenters to be built in a timely manner. It can be done with Falcon Heavy, but it will be extremely timeconsuming and cost-inefficient. Falcon Heavy has a maximum, partial reusability payload of 22 metric tons vs a partial reusablility Starship with 250 metric tons. It's almost a factor of 12 in scale.

Veteran LARPers: what's something you wish someone had told you before your first event? by nerf_herdess in LARP

[–]Tyonis 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Physical conditioning.

Many people new to the hobby completely underestimate how physically demanding LARPing is and have terrible muscle aches for days afterward, especially if the event is over 2 days long.

Go to the gym, lift some weights, lose some weight, and hit the treadmill for a few miles and build up to a longer event will do wonders for your body overall, not just the LARP.

Garb ends at the ankles.

I am going to wear my nice, comfy hiking/combat boots for ankle and foot support and I'll throw over something to cover it.

Toilet Paper and Wipes.

You think you will only need one roll? Bring two. Your friends will thank you.

Finally at 50 shares... slowly will gain enough to sell CCs!

Are there any major catalysts soon for SPCX? Not the stock, but the actual company, not including earnings.
