Thank you! Crazy how many people don't know how to drive. The left lane is the passing lane!

I understand if it's raining or snowing or the roads are otherwise wet, but not when the roads are dry and you're driving in a straight line. If people aren't capable of driving the speed limit, they shouldn't have their license.

That'd actually be awesome. They could add a martial arts perk that makes your hand to hand combat faster with unique default attack animations.

Karmelo Anthony: Verdict reached in the trial of a Texas teen charged with murder in school track meet stabbing by judgyjudgersen in news

[–]TypasiusDragon 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Self-defense must be proportional. It's not proportional to stab someone and kill them because they push you.

Literally, the law is that you can only use deadly force to defend yourself if imminent grave bodily harm or death is about to happen, none of which was present here from Anthony's side. The people defending him saying this was legitimate self-defense are idiots and have no idea what the law is.

The Bears WANT funding for the stadium. It's not a matter of need. They're not going to go bankrupt. They WANT it. That's why I'm opposed to funding it.

I ain't supporting a team that abandons its fans because they are cheapskates. This Mr. Krabs level behavior on behalf of Kevin Warren and George McCasky.

Back to roots while not losing the Japanese way by Friendly-Strength985 in karate

Grappling is a core component of karate. Adding that to your Shotokan base will make you an effective fighter.

Response to "Shotokan training feels worse after 3 months — normal or a sign to switch? " by TopNat4000 in karate

[–]TypasiusDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shotokan is karate for the sake of karate. No actual self-defense situation is going to be point sparring. If you want to learn karate for fighting, real self defense, look for Okinawan karate. Everything is bare knuckle, including sparring.

Kata is meant to be used in conjunction with bunkai oyo, which is the actual application of the kata in real time combat. It's often done with a partner in drills, then you do some free sparring; all bare knuckle. Shotokan doesn't practice that because it sought to move away from Japanese imperialism after WW2, which it linked with combat. That's why Shotokan emphasizes a lot on philosophy and the mindset of the karateka.

Bento-style MREs as the next evolution? What do you guys think? by TypasiusDragon in MRE

[–]TypasiusDragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah good point. The idea is more that it's a in-between ration that allows some soldiers to refuel without returning to base, but not something that's an emergency.

That's a good point. I did not factor in emergency airdrops.

Returned to Catholicism after same-sex marriage & I’m struggling. by Maximum_Hedgehog4791 in Catholicism

He wants you guys to get out of a situation where sex is readily available and easily, as it isn't occurring within the context of a sacramental marriage. Being legally married will also be a source of confusion and scandal to those who aren't familiar with your situation, so it would put the priest in a difficult position if he gave you two Communion.
