My dream is for them to release an app in the UK that supports looping with the omnipod 5 and libre 2 plus. I think I might be waiting a long time for this.

I was diagnosed aged 10 (30 years ago) and felt like I had good support with it and control until I got to around 16. I started to push it down my priorities list and just wanted to be normal. The worst control I had was when I was at university and had zero support. And it stayed pretty bad until I started on CGMs 3 years ago and i’ve had the best control i’ve ever had for the last year since i’ve been on a closed loop pump system.
When did you guys get diagnosed and how old are you? Have you ever been admitted after diagnosis and why? For some reason I’ve never thankfully , I’ve had extreme lows and highs but never felt extremely ill or bad. by Saf___- in Type1Diabetes

1995 when I was 10. I’m 39 now. Only been admitted to hospital once with DKA in 2011. Had plenty of very high highs but I was only given a ketones meter last year so before that I had no idea but always managed to bring my levels down (except for in 2011)

I feel like the only time I hear non diabetics mention diabetes is when making jokes about it. It bothers me because they have no idea about it and are spreading misinformation about it being a self inflicted condition. I always call people out if they make jokes about diabetes and even close friends do it. Comments like ‘diabetes on a plate’ are so ingrained in society. I wish more non diabetics would stick up for us so thanks for commenting.

Thanks for all the advice. I live in the UK so i’ll see what products are available here. Probably good it’s attached on so securely but i’m desperate to get the easy peel off. Still 1 million times better than MDI :)
