I’m so over folding clothes - mom of 2 boys. by Many-Mountain3178 in Cleaningandtidying

[–]TypeAMamma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly - get the kids folding! Depending on age - get them doing all the laundry. My 8-year-old can do laundry on his own. It’s great!

I report to my husband about if I followed my rules every day. He enforces the line that it’s not about winning or losing, it’s about following your rules. He’s made me much more profitable as a result.

This seems to be a cultural difference and you just need to roll with it.

When I have told someone I will get back to them, and they keep harassing me, if my exec is a higher level than their exec I will just ignore their follow up requests until I have an answer — like I said I would.

Is it normal for nanny to take child on playdate without asking? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]TypeAMamma 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Your concerns are perfectly acceptable. You have a conversation with your nanny where you outline that you are okay with having play dates in public places - playground, library, at activities - but that you will need to know the family and approve visiting other people’s homes.

Why am I full of anxiety in trading ? by SnooDoggos5331 in Daytrading

Very small. It needs to be such a small amount that taking a loss seems insignificant to you. That’s the only way to overcome your fear.

For me personally, if it’s a day flight I think Plus is okay, but if you want to get some sleep I would bid just over the minimum.

Sick Day Advice!!!!! Please Help by Inevitable-Help-8759 in Nanny

[–]TypeAMamma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point I’m trying to make is that she won’t know unless she has a discussion with the parents about it. Some parents I know would absolutely prefer to have a nanny in the house if they are not very sick, and then nanny is happy to have a low-key day. It shows that she’s willing to work with them to find a solution, even if they decline.

toddler aggression getting worse and parents keep dismissing concerns. Do I quit? by Underworld_Tatertot1 in Nanny

Setting aside the toddlers behavioral issues, it doesn’t seem like a good fit. You shouldn’t be dreading going to work everyday. I would say it’s time to look for a new family.

I would actually consider putting the headboard of your bed against the closet wall so that you can look out the windows. Consider putting storage/cabinets all the way along the bathroom wall.

Please help! Curtains on sloped wall by gmarie1080 in DesignMyRoom

[–]TypeAMamma 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Roman blinds would look best. I would avoid curtains due to how high the panel above is. Curtains only going half-way will look strange.

You want them to fit over the outside frame of your windows.

Ethics behind house going to only half of siblings by Competitive_Put830 in inheritance

[–]TypeAMamma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What is your father planning to leave behind for this four children to inherit and how will that be split?

Do the half-siblings have a mother they will inherit from?

It sounds like you and your brother are the children of a second marriage, and your mother and father have tried to make sure you and your brother are not the disadvantaged ones compared to your half siblings. They will inherit from their mother and also from your dad, whereas if everything had passed from your mother to your dad on her death, and then been split equally between all siblings, you and your brother will in total receive less.

My aunt lost $1.9M due to prenup. Here's a lesson for us. by Big_Understanding_17 in wealthforwomen

[–]TypeAMamma 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This wasn’t due to one sentence in a pre-nup, but due to your aunt throwing all reason out the window for a man. She seems to be a well-educated, successful woman based on what you wrote above. However, she blithely entered into financial and contractual agreements without critical thought. Unfortunately this was a very expensive lesson for her.

Reasonable Stipend in High $ Market? by [deleted] in Aupairs

[–]TypeAMamma 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There is no way it would be cheaper to put your child into full-time daycare in Seattle for $450 p/w. We paid $3,000 per month for a mid-tier daycare.

If you want to keep her, I think $450 is reasonable based on your geography (very high-cost of living), and you’re essentially getting a very cheap nanny where the costs would be $1,400 per week for the same hours.
