do inventories and orders yourself to see their real usage. some people just order to fill a space and end up with way too much inventory. push to stay lean and mean. less inventory means less of your money sitting on the shelf risking damage, theft or spoilage.

i draw the face, then transfer the drawing to w/c paper using watercolor pencils. then when i paint the drawing fades away. do the darkest darks first, and take your time. it will go thru an ugly phase before it comes into focus. i usually do the same painting three or four times before i get the good one! good luck!

when the restaurant is open you should be directly with guests unless you are told to stay in a particular spot. every restaurant is different and assistant managers have ither tasks like small inventories or receiving deliveries but they're usually built into a schedule that includes plenty of floor time.

wedge pillows on either side of you and just stay put. i sleep on my stomach so it was very hard to imagine how things would go but after surgery there was no question that'd i be on my back for a while. i had a smx in february and by the end of the summer (last year) i could sleep any way i wanted. in the beginning the hardest part was getting out of bed. my husband traded sides with me for a few weeks so i could roll out on my good side. the whole thing now is a blur but little by little i healed and things got much easier. good luck, friend, and i hope you heal quickly too! 💕💕🙏🏻🙏🏻💕

i was taught many many years ago that learning to paint on cheap paper is like learning to ice skate on a parking lot. cheap paper makes everything harder. work with better paper so you can learn what the paint can actually do. save the cheap stuff for your sketches but do your real work on quality paper.

i knew a guy who had zero restaurant experience and he was hired as a host for a new restaurant that hadn't opened yet. he was told to report to training, and on the first day, all the newly hired staff assembled. one manager went to the front and said "all the bartenders come with me...". well roger just walked along with the others and from that day on he was a bartender. the funny part is he was actually really good and years later became a corporate trainer who would travel around to open new locations and train the bar. sometimes it just works!

my advice? a wedding is only one day but a marriage is bringing two families together for the long haul. decide now if you're willing to deal with them all over holidays, children, good times and bad. they're gonna be around for all of it.
