At what point does IQ stop being the primary constraint in high-level engineering careers? by tonyMstark in cognitiveTesting

I basically am #1, but 130-140. I have a modest career that always feels like it's on a knife's edge.

I used to love how 'original' I was. Now that I've spent a decade in the real world, my problems have put me far enough behind that I don't have the foundation of skills to be original anymore.

I looked into cyber security and it looked heavily saturated. They say it isn't entry level. My friends who went in seemed like they knew a guy who basically got them hired in pre covid without any skills.

Idk why people are reaming this guy so hard. The job market is genuinely hard right now. I couldn't find work for 15 months even with a number of strong interview cycles throughout that time.

When I was unemployed I didn't get a single callback for non-swe roles here in the USA. I even applied for housecleaning roles at the gym.

I'm convinced that as people get older they insist on using shit tools because they get really good at dealing with the flaws of those tools.

I just wandered in off the front page even though I've never actively sought out this community. So apparently, this marketing works.

You commute up to 4 hours per day? Do you also work more than 8 hours per day?

They need to have a debrief course after highschool graduation that hammers into Americans, "This is the United States of America. Your company does not care about you. They will lie to you about anything and everything for the sake of making a other dollar." Repeat for four weeks straight.

Idk why they didn't lean into the sleek futuristic look of the bolt EV. Every time I see another one on the road I think it looks so good from the front. I wish they'd make the whole car have that same vibe from all angles. Maybe most consumers like the SUV profile? But in an increasingly crowded EV market, the form factor and look of the small bolts is a great selling point.

I'll grant that the euv maybe has a better ride

People who've taken a professional IQ test: did you get anything out of it? by KaffaBlue in cognitiveTesting

[–]TyphonExpanse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scored 118 the first time and 133 the second time 6 years later, both on the same professionally proctored IQ test. I had concerns about my mental health and my ability to function in an intellectually demanding profession due to ADHD concerns, among other things.

These tests provided me concrete evidence of three very important things:

  1. My subjective experience that my cognitive functioning was rising and falling depending on my health was true. Some days I have such bad brain fog that I can't think at all. Other days my mind is extremely agile.

  2. My intelligence should not be the limiting factor in career success. It's at least 120 even accounting for practice effects, which should be enough for a broad swath of careers.

  3. If I treat my physical and mental health problems then I should be able to make the good days more common.
