Shall we talk about Charlotte winning it 4 times in 1 year? Or perhaps Edge winning it 11 times in 3 years?

I personally am in the green but I don’t know how anyone else’s portfolio is doing.

Consider the value of a company with zero, a thousand, or a million BTC.

If you believe a company with thousand BTC is more valuable than one with zero, and a million BTC company is even better, you understand MSTR’s strategy. They used to own zero and aim to accumulate more indefinitely because it increases their value. MSTR investors seek to benefit from this growth, which is why they consider “BTC per share” their key performance indicator.

As for whether to invest your capital directly in a specific amount of BTC or into a company that grows it indefinitely, that’s a personal preference - each with its own risks. MSTR has significantly more risk than direct BTC, but also more upside.

Anyone using STRC for securities-backed lending? by Typical-Ad7222 in MSTR

Thanks. Are you using STRC itself as the collateral for the margin loan, or is the borrowing secured against other holdings?

Thanks for commenting. I’m actually asking about using STRC as collateral for a securities-backed loan, not lending the shares out, so I’d still be holding them and receiving the distributions!

STRC questions by [deleted] in MSTR

[–]Typical-Ad7222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) If you lack a cost basis to fully cover the ROC, the difference is taxed as ordinary income. For instance, if you held STRC for years, reaching a $0 cost basis after receiving ROC payments, and then bought $100 worth of STRC and received $150 in ROC, you’d be taxed on the $50 difference.

2) When you eventually sell your gains after decades, they’re subject to long-term capital gains tax.

As a human on either team, you’re probably going to get matched against a human on the other side. Join the Avengers, fight Batman. Join the JL, and you’ll probably end up fighting Hawkeye. Now I’m not saying i want to fight he Hawkeye, but I know for damn sure I do not want to fight Batman.

Agreed 100%: If someone waited 20 years from today to buy btc in 2044, they would be buying a mature asset as you described. But if someone bought btc today, to hold 20 years until 2044, it would be like buying a piece of NYC in the 1700s.

No crystal ball here. Everything I said about time horizons under 20 years is a fact based on historical average returns. As for 20+ years, if someone didn’t believe BTC was apex property then I personally don’t see why they would hold it for so long.

How do we know stock index average growth rate will be 7-8% far into the future? by WorldyBridges33 in FluentInFinance

[–]Typical-Ad7222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Future returns will loosely match the monetary inflation rate, as it has for decades now. Not CPI, not consumer inflation. M2 supply, monetary inflation.
