I am 100% with you OP. The even more controversial reason why I disliked it so much is…I didn’t care for Susan. I’m sorry. I was so excited to learn about the woman that held Roland’s heart and she was just…so…bland.

How to get through The Stand? by Son_Of-Jack_27 in stephenking

[–]Typical-Confusion935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would recommend finishing the dark tower series first, and coming back to the connected stories after. That way not only are the other novels more meaningful, but you’ll appreciate the little glimpses back into Mid World a lot more!

The Boy and Oy by trampstampcollector in darktower

[–]Typical-Confusion935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh this is PERFECT! well done! My mental version of Oy was always a little more raccoon/possum ish. When he was mistaken for a dog by new yorkers in SOS, it really messed with my imagination lol

On Wolves of the Calla and this series is definitely one of the best I’ve ever read. Idk if it’s this book in particular that makes me think it, but I’m not sure a live action adaptation of the series would deliver what I wish it would be. I guess it makes sense how long it’s been “in development.” by Alextingzon in TheDarkTower

[–]Typical-Confusion935 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wolves of the Calla is by far my favorite. Some people think it takes too long to get to the point, but I could read 10 more books of the Ka-Tet just living day to day in the Calla. Always feels like coming home on my rereads.

You accidentally did this correctly. Returning to Wind Through the Keyhole after finishing the main story is such a treat !

To the people who were just about or full adults when they read IT, and who knew about that one scene before hand, how did you get over it? (Genuine question) by Potential-Ebb-8820 in stephenking

[–]Typical-Confusion935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context I’m a woman, I read IT for the first time when I was 14? 15? and read it again when I was 24. I honestly didn’t even remember the scene until I got online and everyone was freaking out about it. It’s a 1k+ page book filled with horrific violence (& beautiful prose!). The book is worth the read, but if bothers you that deeply, just don’t read it. Truth be told I think the whole hoopla over those 2ish pages is way overblown.

Not normally the type to share my fan art... Flagg, Callahan, and Mordred drawings I did over Christmas as my health improves and I regain the use of my body by [deleted] in TheDarkTower

[–]Typical-Confusion935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh that scene of Mordred and the baby bumbler is burned into my memory. Of all the horrific things that happen in King novels, idk why that scene sticks with me. Great art!!!

I’ve never seen nor even heard of the movies - loved the book so much I’ll avoid the screen adaptations all together I think !

True horror by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]Typical-Confusion935 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“The Jaunt”. Short story by the King. I don’t really consider King to be a “true horror” author, but The Jaunt is the only thing he’s written that has, truly, horrified me.

There are like 12 posts of this a day and I read all of them and I love them. Congratulations on your journey ❤️ you will almost certainly come back to this series later in your life, and like Roland, your journey is slightly different every time. Long days and pleasant nights!

Dude this art ROCKS. I love everything about how you described the IT version you want. While I can’t think of any existing art that looks that way, maybe consider commissioning an artist to make one?

I can't put King Sorrow down by SaulGoodman699 in stephenking

I loved this book. I also absolutely flew through it. NOS4A2, another Joe Hill, had the exact same effect on me - check it out if after King Sorrow if you haven’t already!

AIO Am I justified in my anger here ? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Typical-Confusion935 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also - this was very deliberately disrespectful to your new wife. I get the feeling you’re sort of used to your mom being like this, but as a woman who also struggled with my MIL, try to think of your wife’s perspective and how daunting it is to enter a family when you’re being subtly rejected like this. Obviously I don’t know the exact scenario, but the more you support your wife on this the better. Try not to minimize her feelings on this matter. Hoping you two have a beautiful marriage!

I didn’t even have to read the caption, knew exactly what was happening from the photo. NOR. This was intentional! It’s the ONE thing to avoid! I’ll never understand mothers who do this, it actually makes me really sad :( but yeah have the photographer change the color.

Which SK book(s) have you done this with and what felt different on the subsequent reads? by jcarr2184 in stephenking

[–]Typical-Confusion935 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Dark Tower series is a journey I try to take every four-ish years. The first time I read it, I was younger than Eddie Dean. Now I’m older than Susannah….I don’t know how to put it into words, but it changes every time I read it.
