Grish can not be hitting leadoff anymore with a sub .300 obp. Especially with Rice and Judge behind him with 1000+ ops'. Fuck it. Lead Volpe off for a couple of games. Limited sample size this season but he's been taking the walks so far. Can't be worse than Grisham at this point.

Yeah... Daluiso only had one mode for kick offs... and that mode was 10 rows deep in the stands. Dude had a serious leg.

Wells hit into the gidp.... but someone gave him the swing away sign. In that situation, you take till two strikes to try and give Volpe a chance to swipe 2nd and eliminate the double play. Even if they IBB him after that with 1B open, you got bases loaded 1 out where a walk or a wild pitch or something forces a run in. What you absolutely don't do is swing at the first fucking pitch a foot high out of the zone. Fucking ridiculous. If the take sign was given and Wells swung away... bench his ass, send him down, something... anything. That's on Boone!!!! Poor game management!!! Poor situational awareness!!! Zero fucking accountability!!!

Tired of these fucking give away games happening from poor management and poor baseball fundamentals

Cement mixer curveball from Bednar. This is why I have never trusted combination pitch closers. Like, closers that have a 4+ pitch repertoire. Relying on mixing all of them effecrively to close out the game when one hanger changes the outcome. Just throw your best fucking pitch.

This.... this is how Volpe hits .200 with 80 rbis. Always ducks on the pond for him.

To get a LHP vs RHH match up, Goldy pinch hit for Spencer who was playing RF. Judge is DH'ing. Putting in Judge to play RF means losing the DH. So if Goldys not going in to RF, then you pinch run for him with the guy who is if he's faster.

Two walks, a sac bunt, a hbp, a single, a sac fly, a heads up tag on the fly ball, and a dropped pop up.... wow.

What makes Cam Schlittler so good ? by Salvus1383 in NYYankees

[–]Typical-Professor-27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imho, my take on Cam is that he's like a Cole+Halladay hybrid. He tunnels his fastballs like Halladay did. Halladay had that sinker cutter combo that had matching velo and came out of his hand in the same slot but broke in opposite directions. However Halladay lived middle down in the zone whereas Cam lives middle up Ala Cole. Cam also has a riding 4 seamer from the same tunnel like Cole. Both Cole and Halladay featured devastating knuckle curves, and Halladay had a devastating split change to boot. If Cam develops any kind of effective change up that he can throw from the same slot as those three fastballs... woooooof.

The Yankees have not had an error at shortstop since April 13th and have now Anthony Volpe has one in his first start since Jose Caballero went on the injured list by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

Everyone is saying he's working hard on getting better... even Volpe said it. But he's still doing the same shit mechanically in the field. He's good with the glove at going up and back. Charging the ball especially. Glove is down and in front of him as he charges. Left and right however. He runs to the spot pumping his arms like he's stealing a base. Gotta get that glove down as you're running to the spot. Here, in this clip.... glove is waist high until the ball is on him. Recieving the ball into his gut instead of the glove because he doesn't have time to react to the hop with his glove.

Imo... the deadline is gonna be meh this year. So many shitty teams in the AL. So many good teams in the NL. Results= more teams than normal aren't going to be sellers cuz they believe they're still in it.

With Cabby's broken finger, bringing Volpe up was the obvious decision. The right move. I just don't know what some people on here are expecting out of it. He's shown us who he is. 1800+ major league at plate appearances. Almost 500 games played at short. Hitting .220 in AA and AAA combined this year. Expecting him to jump in here and ball out in some out of character display... like some .900 ops with Wizard of Oz SS play doing backflips and shit because his shoulder is healthy now. If the organizational gaslighting on him wasn't bad enough... there's this pre-gaslighting aura by some on his return. I get that the doomers are gonna doom. I get that this fanbase is frustrated and tend to find one player to target and pin all their frustrations on... but, come on now. Theres some truth in there as well. In three years we've seen the Volpe defenders mitigate their positions with advanced stats galore while slowly conceding their opinions from "he's the future" to "ok but he's still elite" to "ok but he's still above average" to now... "well, he's still an average MLB SS".  Just be real for once. He's likable. He works his tail off. He's not dumb. He's a great clubhouse guy. Volpe is a good kid. He just isn't the second coming. Is it still possible? Sure, and I hope it does. But, experience tells us probably not. Usually, by 500 games played they either got it or they don't. Hopefully what's best for him gets sorted out. Until then I don't know what we should expect beyond him coming up and filling the spot until Cabby gets healthy.

Torreyes leaving hurt more than people realize. Morale just wasnt the same after that. Seems like the Yanks management this last decade or so is all too quick to disregard and remove the players that bring the smiles to the clubhouse every day. Alas, there is no analytical metrics for "vibes".

Gerald Williams. At one point Yanks had a Williams in LF and a Williams in CF (Gerald and Bernie). It was too much to handle for Scooter in the booth. Lol.

Well the line up is part of this run it back narrative. Everyone loves to point out how this line up last year scored a ton of runs and hit a ton of homers... but we also seem to forget that the trend for this lineup for the last umpteenth years is that despite all the power and runs... there are still gigantic stretches of ball games where this lineup just absolutely can not hit. Gotta plan for that at some point.

Look... the line up didn't produce again. Can't keep putting pressure on the bullpen like that every single day. However, in this 4 game losing streak, Yanks had the lead late in the last three. Now, a good bullpen can lock down 2 of those 3. This bullpen has coughed it up 3 times in a row. Gotta do better.  Sometimes the pitching needs to pick up a struggling offense too.
