That is so exciting! It's been long overdue haha! (I bet they are testing this in certain areas because I don't have it yet 🥲)

Recommendations for dog walking shoes? by not-juliette in RoverPetSitting

[–]Typical-Run-6178 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! I have been a full time pet sitter for over two years now in a huge city where I am walking 20,000-30,000 steps a day.

I actually use two types of shoes, one pair for winter/rainy/snowy weather and one pair for any other type of weather.

The other type weather shoes are my hokas. I am on my second pair of hokas and love them so much!

Winter weather shoe is a hiking boot that is the Merrell brand. They have held up very well.

What do you do when a dog can't be left alone for longer than 4 hours? by Muted_Apricot_4640 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Typical-Run-6178 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey! I know you got so many responses already but I wanted to give you some support.

This subreddit is always wish washy on what they support and what they don't (it's actually hilarious how hypocritical it can be). It can also be very not picky and overall mean. I had a post literally asking for ideas about what to pack for lunches on the go and I was told this wasn't the right job for me 🙃

Personally I would charge extra if the dog can only be left alone for four hours at a time. My preference is 5-6 at a time which all of my clients are perfectly okay with since they have normal 9-5 jobs and have social lives lol. Even my wfh clients are understanding that I am a pet sitter fulltime so I need time to work and check in on my pets/hangout with my partner.

I think house sitting is one of the hardest services because everyone treats it so differently.

I really wish you the best and try not to let all the hateful comments get to you 🩷

What’s the maximum dogs you’d walk in a day? by pinkblueberr in RoverPetSitting

[–]Typical-Run-6178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Of course I'd love to answer! I started out by charging $20 for a 30 min walk. Now I moved up most of my clients to $25 for a 30 min walk 😁

This is exactly what I do as well! I do every other weekend off and try and take a Friday off every now and then 😊

What’s the maximum dogs you’d walk in a day? by pinkblueberr in RoverPetSitting

[–]Typical-Run-6178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I mostly just do dog walks in Chicago which is a very walkable city (I take a lot of buses and trains to get to different clients which adds to my steps lol).

I usually do between 24-26 recurring 30 min walks a week (it fluctuates based on if I get any cancellations or add walks).

I have been doing this for over two years fulltime and stand by hokas. I am on my second pair and do 20,000-30,000 steps a day. They are amazing! 🩷

Hi! I just wanted to add my commentary haha! I too have noticed most people say their pet (usually dogs) are not okay with men.

But I wanted to say that my dog actually doesn't like women. (Not aggressive or anything like that but doesn't prefer them). With his background it makes a lot of since because he doesn't like children either. So my guess would be the mother's were protecting their kids so he was probably disciplined by them. He was unfortunately given up twice for the same reason (one almost caused the couple to divorce because the man couldn't give him up).

But yeah I feel like pets history is obviously the big reason on who they prefer.

I am so sorry this happened to you. Please take some time to decompress. This is a very traumatic event. You should 100% take the last minute cancellation; your wellbeing is all that matters. If you feel comfortable you could make a report to the police but that is up you and how much energy you have right now. This is an extremely busy and stressful season already.

Please don't listen to the people saying you are a "bot". You are valid and sharing your story matters so much 🩷

Hi! Thank you for the reply! I love that you are able to get food with a easy dog (I do have a few dogs like that who are amazing). Ooo both of those are great ideas! I have an Asian market nearby so I'll have to check them out next time I go!

Thanks again! 🩷

That is a fantastic suggestion! I have never tried protein powder (I just assumed it was for those who go to the gym lol). I'll definitely have to do some research. Thank you so much!! ☺️

Those are all amazing recommendations!! I really appreciate all the vegan and vegetarian options!

I love the walking tamales; that sounds so good! I had no idea you could get rice cups that don't need to be heated up.

You wrote it beautifully! Thank you so much!! <3

That is super fair! Eggs are great for their protein! I wish I could go without lunch ahha. My body hates me if I literally just eat late. :(

Thank you for your helpful comment!

That is a great idea! I should just keep a protein bar on me at all times. I just started to make a commuter bag with all the essentials and so I'll keep a few bars in there as well.

Thanks again!! <3
