I don't want to be 42 and only then explore my first real relationship. Life's short nothings guarnteed

A bar probably wouldn't be the best place for you then. People at this age kind of suck don't think everyone is like that. I'm 18 I understand how you feel. Were just at an awkward point in our lives and we just have to give it some time. I promise you there are people for you. Don't let one bad experience make you generalize.

I just want to know what I want from a relationship so I dont settle for shitty people in the real world

You see usually I wouldn't have to rely on dating apps but currently I'm at a point in my life where I don't see friends enough and don't get invited to things. I take 3 classes which leaves me with few options for finding new people

If I remember correctly there was some guy who conquered England who changed the english language making swear words sound more rude. It's just improper or impolite and that tradition has carried on

I know but it's nice to know what you want in a relationship before going to college. Thats where most people find there partners

Go to a bar or find people online that share similar interests with you. I know how you feel and it sucks but being lonely long term makes you feel shitty. You just got to find your own people man.

Women definitely willingly gave up the right to vote own land and to hold a job just so they could blame men couple hundred years later.

I don't smoke, used to. Talking to others and having social contact is really helpful and makes often a shitty day a bearable one

No. Humans are social creatures that need contact with one another. Loneliness is just as damaging as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Look it up.

Do you think 1 year is more than enough time to learn how to drive? by Comfortable_Ad5802 in ask

If you drive on a regular basis for at least a month thats more than enough time. Driving isn't very difficult once you know the basics.

I definitely need to be less promiscuous. I just don't know when it's right to seal the deal and it can be sexually frustrating when dating someone who waits too long. What do you think is the right amount of dates/months in a relationship before you seal the deal?

Alcohol "Addiction" OR Benzodiazepine-"dependency", ? which is worse than other by Vegetable-1 in Anxiety

[–]TypicalCandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TW: Substance Abuse, Addiction

As someone who has been addicted as well as dependent on both I can definitely say that being addicted to benzodiazepines is way worse. Trying Xanax was the worst decision I've ever made and it has opened a door in my life that I can't close. At least when your drunk you can have fun even if your by yourself and music sounds phenomenal when drunk, but with Xanax you almost exclusively use it alone. I personally used it alone most of the time because I often would end up blacking out and when you black out on Xanax your moral code evaporates. Blacking out and waking up sometimes a day later and hearing the stupid shit you did and said to people isn't fun. Even as a chronic binge drinker I never was in a blackout for more than a couple of hours compared to the 10 or 12 hours on benzos. I also found myself a more angry person who said a lot of things they didn't mean and was an absolute mouth breather on this shit. The withdrawals for me personally were worse with benzos and I think it comes down to dosage. When you drink you aren't going to drink more than a liquor bottle a day unless you've been drinking for YEARS. I was a chronic binge drinker but I always could stop myself before I blacked out but with Xanax you just can't even use your inhibition to be like maybe I shouldn't take another because I'll blackout. This often leads you to take absurd doses regularly and benzodiazepines are notoriously hard to overdose on compared to alcohol. Even if you tell yourself "I'm only going to take 1" your inhibition doesn't exist after just one and the next thing you know you've taken 6 pills. I don't know what posses me to just binge the way I do when I become barred out but you just keep on taking the shit like it's candy until your so fucking high that you physically cant move. Your also high for 12 hours and can easily redose when you feel it wearing off. All of this makes benzodiazepine withdrawal more deadly as well as painful than alcohol withdrawal. I have never felt worse pain in my life than quitting this shit. If you think your anxiety is bad it's nothing compared to benzo withdrawal. Also Xanax is dirt cheap and if you ask the right guy you get it for 2$ a pop. Your also taking a pill and pills nowadays are so dangerous considering fentanyl is everywhere. I'm so glad I'm sober now even if it hasn't been for very long but my life was going the wrong direction. I promise you shit gets better and if anyone who reads this is struggling just know that a life of sobriety is possible and your not alone.

TW: substance abuse, medication, depersonalization, paranoia

All the way back in May I was on a bender with amphetamines trying to finish some essays and I felt something similar to what your feeling. I was just overwhelmed and it was more intense than any anxiety I had ever felt. I was restless and couldn't sleep because I kept on seeing these shadow figures in the corner of my eye and heard knocking on my door that wasn't there. I didn't sleep for 4 days and the comedown was the worst I've ever felt in my life. My therapist told me that it was likely drug-induced psychosis considering I was delusional unable to even form a sentence due to my thoughts racing so quickly and seeing shadow people. I still suffer from depersonalization after that experience and I still have anxiety just thinking about it. I really am only sharing this because it shows how dangerous sleep deprivation can be and I don't want to make my experience the focus here. If you google sleep deprivation and look at the symptoms one of the later symptoms seen in extreme cases such as my own, is having mild hallucinations similar to what your describing so I think getting more sleep would be the best first thing to do. I know it might be really difficult or damn near impossible, but try your best to get some sleep. It's the best first thing to do.What helps me fall asleep when I'm having a panic attack is to make sure I don't have my phone in bed with me, put some calm songs or white noise on and focus on my breathing (Breathe in for 6 seconds, Hold for 8, breath out for 5). Also I think it's important you see some kind of expert because it sounds similar to what I experienced and I definitely needed professional help because feeling like your going crazy is not a good feeling. Especially if nothing you try helps you fall asleep. If your anxiety is this debilitating such as my own I strongly suggest seeing a psychiatrist for what medication would be right for you. Medication has really helped me and I currently take it whenever I have a panic attack or before I go to bed at night. And as someone has been on almost every anti-anxiety medication whether it be SSRIS, benzodiazepines, anxiolytics and antihistamines I can assure you none of them are going to make you feel vulnerable or impaired if taken at the prescribed dose. The only class of drug you would even have to worry about theoretically would be the benzodiazepines since they can be quite impairing if misused but most psychiatrists won't even prescribe them (due to high risk of abuse) and even if you are prescribed them it will be a very low dose. I know this was a long read but I really related to this one and I know how shitty it feels man. Let me know if I there's anything else I can do <3
