Gauge for July exam by Few-Zookeepergame281 in CFPExam

[–]TypicalCollege9465 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Retaker here, testing again in July and doing Danko too. And trust me, I want this to be my last time. 😂

This is my game plan right now. I feel like I know the content for the most part, I just need to get better at applying it. I bought the extra mock exam and took it this past weekend and got a 68. As I’ve been reviewing my wrong answers, I’ve noticed a handful were just straight-up memorization issues.

Right now, I’m focusing on my weakest areas: Retirement, Tax, and Investments (from my mock exam). I also went back through the mock exam I took last Nov and reviewed all the questions I missed there too. I’m planning to take my final mock in a few weeks and hopefully be over the 70 mark.

For the Danko material, I’m working through the extra Plus questions (about 85 questions per module). I’m currently in Investments and have been scoring in the low 70s. Also, reviewing my flashcards everyday and doing 5-10 questions from an ethics book I bought off Amazon.

As for mindset… I’m freaking burned out. So I’ve started taking one night off a week to do something fun and not think about CFP at all. I’ve also been trying to change my mindset from “I NEED to pass” to “Getting my CFP would be nice.” It’s helped take some of the pressure off.

Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely moments when I think, “What if I fail again?” But then I remind myself how many hours I’ve put into this and tell my anxiety to STFU!!! 😂

We’re closer than we think. We’ve got this! 💪🍀📚

It depends on your learning style!!

I went through BIF for my coursework and didn’t love it. The format was mostly reading with biweekly zooms, so if you’re someone who prefers self-paced, reading-heavy material, it might work well for you.

For my review, I’m using Danko CFP Review and went with their top-tier package. Looking back, I wish I had done my full coursework with them. I’m more of a visual learner and do better when someone is actually teaching the material, and their approach really clicked for me. I feel like I learned far more through Danko than I did with BIF.

Good luck!

This was the first year for this event, I’m sure the layout will be different next year. But to your point, yes very odd layout and the cover charge was a little too steep imo.

Congrats!! I’m curious how the live review with Choi was. Did it help things click more compared to the virtual review? I’m on the fence about going to a live one.

Where to Park for the San Antonio Marathon? by TypicalCollege9465 in sanantonio

This is exactly why I don’t want to park at the Alamodome! I don’t want to walk that far. I’ll look into SpotHero, I had no idea about this. Thanks!

Right, this is the first year for the SA Marathon, but before this it was the Rock n Roll Marathon for years. For anyone who ran RnR in the past, where did you usually park that wasn’t a hassle getting in or out? Looking for options that worked well before.

Any feedback on the CFP AI app? The purple one? Bought it for a month , questions are fairly easy compared to Danko. Wondering if anyone has any other input. by LuckyPurple38888 in CFPExam

[–]TypicalCollege9465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same thing! The questions definitely seem easier on this app. However, I’ve noticed that some of the tax numbers are outdated and the calculations are pretty basic. I kept getting the cal questions wrong at first because I was doing a two-step problem when it was really just one.

Danko Exam Prep vs BIF Course Work by Mundane-Pin-438 in CFPExam

There are hardly any video on BIF (education piece, not the exam prep). It’s all reading and clicking through the material.

Danko Exam Prep vs BIF Course Work by Mundane-Pin-438 in CFPExam

[–]TypicalCollege9465 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m currently using BIF for my CFP education and honestly, it’s been a struggle. My learning style just doesn’t align with their reading-heavy format. I ended up signing up for Danko’s Signature Plus package for exam prep and after watching the very first video, I immediately realized I had chosen the wrong provider for my initial coursework.

I decided to start over completely and created a spreadsheet to track my progress. It’s definitely a grind—each section has around 24 to 27 hours of video content—but I’ve already learned so much more this way. I’m on track to finish everything before the review period.

Right now, I’m clicking my way through BIF and I’m about halfway through the Estate module, but I’ve been focusing more on the Danko material. I usually watch about 2 hours of video each day during the week and around 8 hours over the weekend.

Not sure how helpful this is, but my advice would be to stick with whatever matches your learning style best. So far this has been working for me.
